The matter of public manners, 15 too im])u.rtzfnt to the commun
ity aa a whole to let an occurence like that of Sunday afternoon at
the Armistice Sunday exercises pass without comment. The way
in which some Fitzgerald people conducted themsalves at that meet
ing was, to say the least, abominable. :
During the course of the oration of the atternoon, by one of
the best orators in South Georgia and one of the state’s most es.-
ttmable jurists, a few people deliberately got up and walked out.
By far the vast majority of the people listened cagerly to the speak
er’'s words. It was a great speech.
Parents must instruct their children in common courtesy.
Older people must be more thoughtiul. Fitzgerald must not” gain
a reputation for being a city of uncultured, rude, and Ignorant peo
ple. The sort of thing that happened Sunday must never happen
again.
ATLANTA WORLD'S FAIR
\tlanta 1s going to be the scene of a world wide fair in 1925.
Atlanta men of enterprice and imagination have gone after it. At
lanta business men will back it and the thing will go through to a
successtul finsh, for Atlanta, for Georgia, {or the South. Atlanta

That is why Atlanta is the business center of the f\'uul.hv:u!..
Had <cme of 1;1; other littie cities that dot the lllfl't!.i‘i_'l'!) section of
Georgia learned that lesson of “F pluribus 1:1:21111".““}' years ago,
maybe one of the others would be the city Atlanta is now. Sceveral
others had an almost cqual start.
But all that has hittle to do directly with the Atlanta World’s
Fair. We are going to have it in 1925 and it is up to Fitzgerald
and the rest of the state to get in on it. Ben Hill County farmers
and business men should start now at least dreaming a little about
a-wonderful Ben Hill county section in the building that will be
reserved to Georgia. It will be another chance to perform for the
motice of all the world. The Fitzgerald Fair Association Is going
to lend its fullest measure of cooperation to whatever organization
is formed in Atlanta for the World’s Fair. For the next four years
of fitrgerald Expositions, the people of this section will be “pet
ting in practice” for the stemwinding exhibit they are going to
make in Atlanta in 1925 '
; [t won't be necessary to argue much with any Georgian, in
whatever section of the state he lives, to convince him of the po
tential value of the World’s Fair to himself and the neced for his
helping to make it a great one. Georgia has greater possibilities
than any other section of similar size in the Western World, Her
people have cgshed in on very few of her possibilities and seeming
ly don’t realize the presence of others. But Georgia can furnish
the backbone of support for the greatest Exposition the world has
ever seen and in so doing can establish herself considerably more
strongly as a goal for homeseekers and a place for big business to
imvest money,
This exposition is, of course, entirely too large for a strictly
Atlanta project. Atlanta will lead, will bear the brunt of the cffort,
and will reap the larger immediate benefits. But all the state must
throw its forces in with those of the capital city. All the state will
benefit.

Solomon, is to this day, a name to charm with. A dawn so
fair, a noontide so splendid, and a sunset of such gloom the his
tory of man no where else exhibits. His life merits the wail of
the poet: “Silence on the music fell and darkness on the glory.”

: However, in this lesson, we are in the fair ddawn, though the
haunting sadness of that sunset sounds its minor note midst the
morning minstrelsy. . Fellow with him in all his weakness and
ourselves saved, if at all, by Christ alone, we look upen him-—the
gifted, the beautiful, the winsome one—and our bearts cry, “Alas
my brother.” :
