COMPANY’S COWIN’
IN MEMORY OF LITTLE
COLUMBUS SCARBORO
■ A short while ago liittlc Columbus
was a shining gem
, Playing about his earthly none, su
happy and so gay.
But not here on earth shall we again
receive a smile from him,
Fit he has gone to await the resur
rection day.
On last Tuesday little Columbus went
l to hi; re wand,
j However wo did not understand the
Master’s beckoning voice.
| Still, we know l,e hag ;c ended into
the presence of our Lord,
I For this precious lifctlj darling wus
hi. own dear choice .

And, too, we shell miss a bright and
happy smile,
Words from h's mouth shall no lon
ger fill the air,
' For he has closed his eyes to rest in
Paradise a while.
We understand not the mystery of
such an hour,
Rut, yet, so patiently we must en
dure it all-
Why God did take this bud v/bicn
might have made a full grown
{' ower
Is not ours to know, but that this
war the Master’s call.
We loved him, yes we loved him,
more than any worda can ted
For he was a child of God; just a
ray of shining light.
And now that he has gone and ir, the
presence or God shall dwell,
We hope to find him there some day
in the palace of delight.

DREAM AND PROPHECY
OF HENRY W. GRADY
“When every farmer m the
South shall eat bread from hi*
own fields and meat from his
own pasture, and disturbed by
ro creditor and enslaved by no
debt., shall sit amid his teeming
gardens and orchards and vine
yards and dairies and barn
yards, pitching his crops in his
own wisdom and growing them
in independence, making cot
ton his clean surplus, and sel
ling it in his own tune, and in
his chosen market, und not at a
master’s bidding—getting his
pay in cash and not in a receipt
ed mortgage that discharges his
debt, but doe? rot restore his
freedom—then shall be the
breaking cf the fullness of our
day.”
