The charmingly planned picnic at which Mise Ruby GrifFeth entertained Saturday afternoon in honor of her guests, Misses Ellen Griffeth of Co mer, Lula Parker and Ruth Tabor of Fort Lamar, wag thoroughly en joyed by a congenial group of beys and girls who were invited for the delightful occasion. The party met fit the Boggs-Moreley Spring, where late in the afternoon a delicious pic nic lunch was served, _ •> Mr. and Mrs. W.. R. Eskew move to Bowersville this week, where Mr. Eskcw has accepted * position as Superintendent of the school,. Their many friends regret very much to •see thorn go. Mr.. Eskew has been very successful as County Agent in Madison County for several months. They carry .with them every good wish for success in their new work. Mr. and Mrs. EJ. Jesse Patten and two daughters and five little sons spent last week at Toccoa and Tallulah Falls and report a perfectly delight ful outing. Miss Nellie Landers was the guest of Mias FYances Garithers Saturday night and Sunday.. Miss Esitelle Patrick from Jackson County has been the charming guest of Miss Edna Irvin the past week-end Misses Leona and Nellie Sorrow and brother, Jesse, have returned to their home near Colbert after a p&ease.nt visit to Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Messers Earnest and Marvin Mann of Daniel ville were guests of M|. J. B. Patten Friday night last . Some of the young folks of Mt. Zion vicinity attended a very enjoy able ice cream festival at Mr. and Mrs. Griff Meadow Saturday night. M.j. and Mrs.. BiU Bates expect to make their home in Athens after Sent. Ist. We regret to lose them from our vicinity. The protiacted services at Mt. Zion will commence next Saturday night, August 18$h, and continue one or possibly two weeks. Rev.. 0. N. Todd and wife of Tallapoosa will be in the meeting by the middle of the first week and will have charge of the services. Mr. and Mrs. AJ, L.. Jackson of Talapoosa will also be in the meeting to assist in the sing ing. Rev. Chandlofr has returned from the hospital where ha had an operation. Several from around here attended the District Training School at Dan ielsville last week. Miss Dc-aie Mae Martin of Daniels ville was visiting relatives of this place Wednesday night. Mr.. Sanford Kymp and Misses Ruby Nelms and Mamip Edwards were visiting friends ahd relatives of this section Friday. Mr. Andrew Akins of Athena was visiting relatives in this place last week-end. Mr. W. H . Akins of Athens was a spend the night guest of relative here Wednesday night. The farmers of this section were glad to see the rain their crops were beginning to suffer from the hot dry weather. Many from around here attended the baptizing at Erastus Friday night Miss Clemons Fleeman spent the night Wednesday in Danielsville. Mr and Mrs. Early Tolbert, mo tored to Danielsville Thursday night to hear Mr. Newton speak Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Allen vis ited in Athens Saturday Little Miss Mary Hellen of Athens spent the week-end with the Tattle Misses Sara Sue and Lena Baugh Allen. Mr. Cohen Chandler of Florida is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs Doc Chandler. Mr. Walter Brown of Florida has joined his wife in a visit to her par ents, Mr. and Mns. Doc. Chandler. Mr. and Mr*. J. W. Martin mo tored to Athens Tuesday. Mr. Lord Thurmond purchased a new Dolge recently. Mr. Seab and Miss Wreatha Cheatham attended preaching at Moon,j Grove Wednesday night.
