GOD CALLED HIS OWN HOME
On June 2nd last, there came into
our midst and abode in our home Miss
Bernice Waggoner of Colbert, Ga.,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Wag
goner. She set many fine examples
before us, quiet and peaceful. She
was about her Mater’s business, al
ways doing something for someone,
always obedient to her God and fel
lowman, never fretting or objecting,
always contented and ready to sacri
fice pleasure that might have been
hers that others might be pleased.
On July 21st she was taken with
an illness, for two days she toiled
under the pain, but was forced to
take her bed on the third day. She
was rushed to her homo with her
family. She grew worse until Aug.
11th at 11:30 P. M: God called His
consecrated child home unto Him.
She served Him as a Sunday School
teacher, Epworth, League worker
and often reminding us of His potyer
and His mercy. She wus 23 years of
age. She leaves her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Waggoner and five brothers:
Methvin, Paul, Hollis, Howard, Ken
neth and Key, and numerous friends
to mourn her death, one little sister
having gone before her.

DREAM AND PROPHECY
OF HENRY W. GRADY
“When svefy farmer in the
South shall eat bread from hist
own fields and meat from his
own paiAure, and disturbed by
no creditor and enslaved by no 1
debt, shall sit amid his teeming
gardens and orchards nnd vine
yards and dairies and barn- !
yards, pitching his crops in hia
own wisdom nnd growing them
| in independence, making cot
ton his clean surplus, and sel
ling it in his own time, and in
i his chosen market, and not at a
I master’s bidding—getting his !
pay in cash and not in a rcccipt
i ed mortgage that discharges his
debt, but does not restore his
i freedom—then shall be the 1
breaking of the fullnes* of our
day.” *
DISTRICT RALLY AT ROGERS
The fifth district of the Sareptft
association held its rally with the
Regers Baptist church, Sunday, Aug
31. These rallies are conducted by
the four departments of the church,
the layman’s work, W. M. IT., B. Y.
P. U. and Sunday School. Eachh de
partment is given one hour on the
program.
Mr. W. B. Aderhold led the open
ing devotional. In the absence of Dr.
J. S. Daniel, chairman of the layman*®
work and speaker of the hour, Mr*.
W. D. Meadow took charge. The
subject for discussion was: The Pos
sibilities and Outlook of the church.
Mr. G. L. Sailers and Mr. J. S. Dan
iel spoke on this subject.
Mrs. W. C. Groves chairman of
the W. M. U.. work, called for rep
resentatives from the dicereht or
ganizations. Miss Gladys Williams,
n volunteer for the foreign veld,
made a short talk. It was indeed a
great treat to have Miss Bonnie Ray,
returned missionary from China,
speak at the eleven o’clock hour.
She told in a very delightful way of
, her first impressions of China. She
I told of arriving at one station and
! finding no one to meet her, but in
i answer to prayer the difficulty was
soon remidred. She said that all thft
girls feet are bound in this province.
It is only when a girl becomes a
Christian that her feet are unbound.
She told of the terrible need of the
gospel.
After the noon hour Mr. Charlie
Edwards Led the devotional. He made
a most interesting talk using a part
of the one hundred and thirty-ninth
psalm as the basis of his remarks.
Mrs. W. D. Graham was elected
secretary and treasurer to serve for
one year. The W. M. U. reporter
was elected reporter for all of the
departments.
Mr. Waterhouse spoke in a very
forceful way on, Why Have a Chris
tian Education. One of the most
striking reasons he named was that
; the Catholics give two hundred forty
; eight hours of Bible teaching per
: year while we give only about twelve
Mr. Waterhouse is a student of Mer
cer and is a very earnest speaker.
The .Senior B. Y. P. U. banner
v/as awarded to Rogers and the Jun
ior banner to Union.
Mr. Ralph Collier, chairman of th
Sunday School work had three speak
ers discuss the subject, Our Success
os and Failures. The speakers were
Mr. W. S. Lowe of Colbert, Mr. E.
J. O’Kelley of Pleasant Grove and
Jr. I). L. Graham of Comer.
The place for meeting of the next
rally will be announced later.
Mrs. J. 0. M. Smith,
