Tl»r Factory My»icry
While nothing has been discov
which point* to any party a* guilty of any
crime out near the factoiy Sutiftday night,
some fseta have liecomo known which in
dilate that it is mon* than probable that
a murder was committed, and that tt
bloody clothe* w»*iw east aside in order to
avojd detection if possible. Wo couh
gain no information on Sunday beyont
tho fact that tho bloody clothos wer
found. We how those, but a hasty ob
servation of the ground in that neighbor
hood ivvoaled no signs that a oonilict or a
scuffle hail taken place therealwut.
lint wo have since ascertained gome
fact* that seem to give a clue which
might bo folio* od up to a successful re
volution of the wholo mystery. Tho
watchman at tho factory Saturday night
hoard a quarrel between a negro man and
a negro woman, from which it seems that
they were man and wife, and tho woman
was making throat* of quitting her hus
band.
l*uter at night a gentleman, who is in
business on Fourth stivett was passing
out that way, accompanied by bis suffer-
in-law, when they saw a woman lying
upon tho ground, apparently dead. They
utood still a moment or two looking at
her, and while standing there, they saw
a negro man approach, pick the prostrate
woman up, throw her aero** his shoulder
and go off with her. The gentleman
wonted to follow to aoo who the negro
was, and wlrnt he was going to do with
the woman, but tho lady, fearing sho
might receive violence at tho hands of
the negto, detained him.
With tho above facts as starting points
it seems to bo no difficult matter to ferret
out the wliolo mystery. If • any one has
1-vn foully dealt with, it wus probably
some one who livwl in that neighborhood*
ami it can l*o readily ascertained whether
or not any one is missing.

The first case was against one of Can-

Charles was his name. Ho went into the
ib'orgia, Xo. 2 night before last, and
crouched himself (upon tho floor for a
night's ropo-o. This did not suit E-i-
pcnner, who took the sleeper up tenderly
in hi* arm , and put him into hi* little
bed out on the sidewalk. Hero the peel-
