Hudson returned home yesterday from an extended visit to relatives in Sparks. The Douglas Breeze produces this evidently inspired by an old bachelor: “Whatsoever a man sewotii, that will lie easily rip.” Rev. Sumlin filled the pulpit at the Methodist chuVcli Sunday, during the absence of Rev. J. C. Flanders who was on a visit to his old home. Phil Everett lias been doing much to improve the appearance of his Drug Store and well he has succeeded, The manner in which lie arranged the screens about the soda fount is worthy of commenda¬ tion. Messrs. Palmer Hardware Co., continue to do an extensive busi¬ ness through this section, as n re¬ sult of fair dealing with each and every customer, Their stock is complete and they always give satisfaction. Herbert Mullins Dead. Mr. Herbert Mullins, who has been quite ill at the Pinnix House for about two weeks died yester¬ day afternoon, of typhoid pneu- motna. lle had been a resident of Ashburn about t wo years, and through his honesty and integrity had won a place in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a Christian young man, and had been Secretary and Treasurer of the Baptist Sunday - school for sometime. In his death Ashburn looses one of her best young men and his every acquaintance foals that a friend has departed. His relatives have the sympathy of every citizen in their bereave nient. The funeral services will tike place at the Baptist church this morning at 0:30.J Gents Furnishings. We will say a few words about our Men s Youth’s and Children’s Clothing. Our line is complete in every respect. Our Children’s Suits are in 3 pieces, consisting of Sailor-collar Coat, Fancy Vest and Pants. A “beaut” for a Boy. We ask everybody to come, as we have so many new things than we can mention. We doubtless have just what you want. A “barber’s bill” lias been in- traduced in the Tennessee Legis- lature by Representative Hanson, of Shelby, and will in all proba¬ bility be adopted. It provides for a State board of examiners, whose duty it shall be to examine and license barbers. This examina- tion will include cleanliness, com¬ petency ahd sobriety. The bar¬ ber’s bill idea is not a bad one, by any means, and some similar leg- islation would prove vastly bene- ficial down here in Georgia. Card of Thanks. I wish to thank all those who assisted in saving my gin from destruction by tire. I highly ap¬ preciate their kindness, and shall strive to repay them in some man¬ ner. Very truly, J. C. Durham.
