Mark Tison, Secretary.
The following statement irotn
Chairman du Bignon puts the
case of the state executive com-
mittee exnoty right: “Our pri-
marv virtually takes the place of
the regular election. Everything
is settleil in it and our party
everything to gain and nothing
to lose by making a p'>stive stand
for a clean rut ami fair oxpresioi
of the popular choice. Every
man in Georgia who has paid liis
taxes for 1K99 has had
ty every since January 1st to reg-
ietei and if he has not already
done so, he can have his name
AiruV^r 'four' miinths.In
some states the whole registra¬
tion time is covered bv a period of
only a few weeks. In Georgia
eyery man who has not already
paid his taxes for 1899 is now a
defaulter, but by the oodor of the i
committee he still has until May
4th in which to qualify liinieelf
by the payment of last year's
faxes and by registering.

though, at one time or another, all
of these cities have tried the three-
paper or four-paper schedule,
Rome may, aa we just remarked,
maintain two creditable daily pa-
pera, though it is likely that her

their interests more truly
subserved by one energetic, up-to-
date and properly maintained
daily than by two that shared the
public patronage. If Atlanta and
,Savannah are two-paper cities,
Rome certainly belongs in the one-
paper city.
