After the investigations usually de volving upon them under the charge of the Court, the Grand Jury of the Fall term of Upson Superior Court for 1879, make the following report: Our Jail is unsafe, and the Court- house needing some repairs. Nearly all the books of record in the Clerk’s office are, more or less, incomplete. The minutes of the Court are incom- plete for the year 1878 ; and the Judg-| ment docket fails, for several years, to show many entries necessary to ex-| plain the disposition of cases—their settlement, etc. The Writ Record appears to have been entirely neglect-, cd for several years. The Donation party was a grand due Mr. James Riviere, who, with his usual liberality, prepared and con tributed all the oysters used during the evening. Any enterprise undertaken by the noble ladies of Thomaston, is sure to be a grand success.’ They are noted for their generosity and public spirit. What would be the condition of our puclic institutions were it not for Little Alvah Weaver with his ubiq uitous "Grab Bag" (why were the old bachelors so shy of that bag?) fur nished an inexhaustible source of amusement to the party. Batamidst all this fun and laughter Alvah, with an eye to business, took in $3.45. The little fellow deserves thanks for do- ing lvis work so faithfully and intel- ligently. The cash contributions and the pro ceeds of the Donation Party, after all expenses are deducted, amount to $58.95.
