MOTHER! GIVE CHILD “SYRUP OF FIGS” IF TONGUE IS COATED If cross, feverish, sick, bilious, clean little liver and bowels. Children love this “fruit laxative,’’ and nothing else cleanses the tender stomach, liver and bowels so nicely A child simply will not stop playing to empty the bowels, and the result is they become tightly clogged with waste, liver gets sluggish, stomach sours, then your little one becomes cross, half sick, feverish don't eat sleep or act naturally, breath is bad system full of cold, has sore throat stomach-ache or diarrhoea. Listen Mother! See if tongue is coated then give a teaspoonful of “Californi-i Syrup of Figs,” and in a few hour? all the constipated waste, sour bile and undigested food passes out of the system, and you have a well, playful child again. Millions of mothers give "California Syrup of Figs’’ because it is perfectly harmless, children love it, and it nev er fails to act on the stomach, livei and bowels. Ask your druggist for a bottle of “California Syrup of Figs,” which has full directions for babies, children of all age* and for grown-ups plainly printed on the bottle. Beware of counterfeits sold here. Get the gen I uine, made by ‘‘California Fig Syruy Company.’* Refuse any other kind with contempt Men Engaged In Non-Essential Work, To Change Amendments to the selective serv ice regulations received from Provost Marshal General Enoch H. Crowder t-y Major Joel B. Mallet, selective service aw officer for Georgia, an nounce that able-bodied registrants engaged in non-productive occupa t'ons will be given until July 1 to get into essential employments. After that date, regardless of their classifi cation, their order numbers will be disregarded and they will be held io immediate induction into military service. Ail registrants wiio are idle will lose their old numbers. The term idleness will cover gamblers of all descriptions and employes of race tracks and bucket shops, fortune tellers, clairvoants, palmists and the like. Servants, elevatqr operators domestic servants, theatrical attend ants and others are classified in non productive occupations which are listed as follows: (a) —Persons* engaged in the serving of food and drink, or either, in public places, includ ing hotels and social clubs; (b) Passenger-elevator opera tors and attendants; and door men, carriage openers and other - " attendants in clubs, hotels, stores, department houses, office build- ings, and bath houses; (c) —Persons, including ushers and other attendants, engaged and occupied in and in con nection with games, sports, and amusements, excepting actual performers in legitimate concerts,, operas, or theatrical performanc es; (.d) —Persons employed in do mestic service. (e) —Sales celrks and other clerks employed in stores and other mercantile establishments. More Work for Women Thus it will be seen that all who em ploy male servants between the ages of 21 and 31 will be deprived of their services; that women will take the places of young men in stores and in elevators; that people will become their own chauffeurs; that theatres will have either young boys, middle aged men or girls for their ushers; that the same condition will apply to soda jerkers and that, according to the interpretation of several author iies, baseball will be shorn of its young players. The above listed non-productive em ployments is to be extended from time to time as necessity may re quire to include various other oceu pations. There is no justification, the regulations set forth, in postponing the call into military service of a reg istrant engaged in a non-productive occupation, notwithstanding he may have been placed in class two, three or four on the ground of dependency. ‘‘There is a great demand ofr labo. irx all productive ocupations and em ployments,” the regulations say, and especially in agriculture and other Decessary industries. Therefore, reg istrants who have been given deferred classification and who can engage in some productive occupation or empoy ment without substantial financial less or hardship to themselves or others should be willing to seek some productive occupation or employ ment or enter the military service rather than remain in an occupation or empoyment Into which they are rendering no effective assistance to the nation.” The reguation will apply strictly to men coming under the classification named unless it is shown that change in empoyment would work very grear hardship to dependents. Every man will be given full opportunity to pre sent evidence as to why he shoud re tain his deferred classification and apepals even may be taken to the president unless the district board is unanimously in favor of the with rjrawal. The local board investiga tions will be thorough, but every man will have full opportunity to Justify his being in a non-productive occupa tion. It becomes the duty hereafter, say the regulations, not ony of all persons connected with the' administration of the selective service law and regula tions, but of all citizens, to report to the nearest local board all facts which come to their knowledge concern ing registrants who are idle or who are engaged in non-productive em poyment. As rapidly after July 1 as the local boards can list the registrants in non-productive occupations, the men will be called for physical examina tion and reclassification. GIRLS! ITS YOUR STEP THAT ATTRACTS! Says women pay too much heed to their face instead of their corns. Watch your step! This will cos! little but is sufficient to remove every hard or soft corn or callus from oee's feet. A few drop applied directly upon a tender, touchy corn relieves the sore ness and soon the entire corn, root and all, lifts right out without pain. This freezone is a gummy substance which dries instantly and simply shrivels up the corn without inflaming or even irritating the surrounding skin.
