THE TRIBUNE-NEWS, CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA, JUNE 23, 1918 COST OF FEED FOR poisons IS RECOGNIZED At a recent meeting of the county commissioners the sheriff was allow ed to increase fees for feeding pris oners held in the county jail, from 60 to 70 cents a day. Sheriff Galaway stated that this increase was neces sarv in view of the rising cost of all goods and the board, after some dis cussion, granted his request. The county commissioners have secured a written guarantee from the makers of the Rock crusher now owned by the county and it is agreed that they will send an expert to Bar tow county to see that the new ma chine is kept in perfect condition and he is to instruct someone employed by the county in this operation. At present this machine is in the Cass ville disttrict and will be put into operation at once. A number of gentlemen living in the southern part of the county have petitioned the county commissioners to change the course of the Alabama toad for a short distance in the Allu toona district. Their petition is couched in the following language. “Change in Alabama toad in the Alatoona district: ‘‘Leave old Alabama road at prop erty of Homer Riggs and pass thru land of E. B. McCoy then thru land of corporation known as the . Glade Corporation a distance of about 3-4 of a mile, then enter old Ala bama road at place known as Cross Roads. This road is sought to be made a public road passing thru land described as above and signers de sire this to be officially declared a 1 üblie road. Among the signers are "essrs. Tom Fowler, Luther ,n gram, Homer Grigg, Frank Nation, and others.' 1 The county commissioners arc giv t mg considerable attention to th clearing up of the obstruction in the Alatoona road and workers are bury placing a heavy galvanized culvert which is expected to take care o‘: tlje waste water heretofore banked against the roadway.
