Tito annual sing held at the Tab ernacle in Cartersville last Sunday was largely attended, and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by every one present. A large number of promin ent, singers came here for the day, and their presence added greatly to the success of the affair. In the afternoon Judge 'loses Wright, of Rome, de livered a very strong address, and those who heard it pronounced it a gem of oratorical ecort, and one of the best ever delivered by the dis tinguished jurist. Twenty solders from Camp Gordon will arrive Saturday evening, ro l.e the week-end guests iu Cartersville homes, having been invited by the local committee Interesting in the en tertainment of soldiers. Upon arrival Saturday evening, the boys will be met by their hosts, and the party will repair to the country home of Mr Walter White, where a picnic lunch will be served, and an evening ot en tertainment will be enjoyed, Any one who .desires to entertain soldier boys for the week-end during the next few months, should advise Miss Caroline Young, Chairman of the local committee. The Fourth of July celebration, held at the Fair Grounds last Thurs day, was a very successful event, and large crowds were on hand thru out the day. The races in the after noon were especially good, and some fast records were hung up by the horses entered for the various events. Mr. W.‘ A. Blackwell had charge of the celebration, and he was ably assisted by Mr. .'Tike Moran in the races. SPENDTHEDAY PARTY. Mr. and Mrs. Ruohs Pyron enter tained a beautiful spend-the-day party at Meadow View Farm Tuesday for Miss Sara Pyron, of Emerson. After a morning spent in the meadows luncheon was served on the spacious court and the guests motored to Car tersville for the Pauline Frederick performance at the Dixie. Following the picture refreshments were served at Milam’s. PICNIC FOR SOLDIERS Miss Carrie Grace Pinion enter tained on Saturday evening at the •'Furnace Stack’’ on Etowah River in honor of six soldier boys, which in cluded Privates 6. E. Callaway, Wes ley Nichols, William Jackson, Need Stephens, Arthur Ward and Corporal John Baker of Camp Gordon. Those attending numbered tweleve, besides Mr. and Mrs. Strickland,, of Russel ville, Ala., who were chaperons. FOR VISITORS. Msses Lillian and Frances White wer e lovely hosts on Tuesday at a dinner, given at their country home, in hortor of several viSitihg girls. The affair was a most delightful one, and thoroughly enjoyed by the guests, who numbered about fifteen. BIRTHDAY PARTY.
