Though they have eleven children, this is the first break in the family. The funeral took place Monday at Barnsley’s chapel, Rev. I. Editor Tribune-News, Cartersville, Ga.: Dear Editor—l would greatly appre ciate it if you would make some men tion in your most splendid paper, of the fact the division meeting of the Eigh teenth Division of the Independent Or der of Odd Fellows will be held with Dalton Lodge No. 72 j on the 31st day of this month, and we an of course ex pecting a good time. It being impos sible, however, at this time to give in detail a program for the meeting, but we are expecting the grand master, the Honorable J. S. Wilder, of Savannah, to be present and to make the principal address of the occasion. We are also expecting to have with us Hon. T. H. Robertson, grand secre tary of the Grand Jurisdiction, to be present and will deliver an address, as well as other distinguished brethren. The public exercises will be held in the morning and the business session in the afternoon. ANY BOY OR GIRL IN COUNTY MAY GO TO SCHOOL Recent Ruling by Board of Education Admits Young Folks From the Country in the Local System. Supt. L. C. Evans would like for the fact to heroine g.-neralljfr known that under the latest ruling of the City Board of Education, any boy or girl in Bartow county, who has passed the seventh grade, and is ready for high school, may enter the Cartersville high school, and there will be no tuition charge. Heretofore, pupils from outside the city limits, doing high school work, have paid a tuition of $3.50 per month. As the result of an agreement entered into between the city and county boards, this charge is eliminated, and the Cartersville high school is now open to students front any part of Bar tow county, provided they have passed ihe seventh grade. These pupils will have the privilege of taking any one of the following courses: Agriculture. Science and Modern Language; Classical or Home Economic courses. Advantages are offered in Music, Expression and Art, the latter being the latest addition to the list of subjects taught in tile high school. t Prof. Henry M. Dr. Baker’s Farms In Pine Log District Are to Be Auctioned The Tribune-News learns upon good authority that the property owned by the estate of the late Dr. Tlios. H. Ba ker, in the Pine Log district, will pe sold at auction on the first. Tuesday in October. The sale will be In the nature of an auction, it is understood, and no doubt much interest will be aroused by this announcement, since this property is considered among the best farming land in Bartow county. At present, there are some seven farms on the Pine Log holdings of this estate, and details as to the sale have not yet been definitely decided upon Suffice it to say the entire tract in Pine Log district will be offered on the 4th of October, and this means that about 2,70 acres, of which the greater part is now under cultivation, with good crops, will go on the block to the high est bidder. In addition to the Pine Log property, the Baker estate owns that fine river farm, just on the outside of Carters ville, and cultivated this year by Mr. Levi Shaw. It is possible, The Tribune- News learns, this farm inay be included in the October sale. With the up-turn in conditions gener ally, it is expected the October sale of the Baker property will attract much attention, in view of the fact that when parts of it were offered last January, prices that would have been considered good in war times were eagerly paid by a number of buyers. Coiaing as this sale will, at the end of a season, when the outiook is brighter than it has been for over a year, there is every reason to believe the October sales of the Ba ker property will be good.
