Recent Brides Complimented At Beautiful Afternoon Tea. Mrs. Emory Vaughan and Miss Sarah Vaughan were hostesses at an after noon tea Thursday of last week in com - plimint to Mrs. Fred Knight and Mrs. Francis Vaughan, two charming young nia trOns whose marriages were recent social events. Tlje guests were received in the liv ing room which was decorated with ouantities of yellow chrysanthemums, grown in the hostess’ garden. The lace covered table in the dining room had as its central decoration a silver bas ket of pink and white chrysanthemums, the handle tied with a fluffy jtink tulle bow. and surrounding this were silver candlesticks holding pink tapers. Receiving with the hostesses and honorees were Mrs. Stanley Dodd and Mrs James Vaughan, Jr., of Atlanta. Mrs. 1. M. Twiggs. Mrs John Adair. Mrs. Charles Russell was hostess at a very enjoyable surprise party at her home on Douglas street, on Saturday evening Novt niber K. in ltonor of Mrs. J. L. Ray, the occasion being a com memoration of the fiftieth birthday of the honoree. tne guests came into the livirjg room, which was appropriately ar ranged for the occasion, it was a de 'ight to see the surprise with which Mrs. Ray received each one, as she had been requested to come over to listen to some new record for the victrola. Immed’ately after Mrs. Ray passed into the house of her hostess the in vited guests who were gathered at a neighbor s home, began to arrive. After all were seated music was enjoyed and good wishes were extended to guest of honor. Contests were then indulged in. Miss Sadie Williams and Mrs. John Ray winning the prizes given, two lovely handkerchiefs. Rev. Mr. Conway led in singing some old-fashioned favorite hymns, which Mrs. Ray always delights to hear. Then In his unique manner Mr. Conway ren dered a simple but fervent prayer of thanksgiving to God for the day that meant so much to so many.
