His death was very un expected. He brought a bale of cot ton to the gin at this place last Mon day and seemed to be in usual health. Mr. Dellinger was a frail man, having been a cripple from childhood. Notwithstanding ho was very industrious, having done a great deal of hard work. He was a consecrated Christian gentleman He leaves a wile and three children a mother, two brothers and one sis ter to mourn his departure. The be reaved ones have our sympathy. Mr. Henry Edwards has been on the sick list for a few days but is improving. Mr. V. W. Barton lias moved his family to Rome. We regret ver> much to give them up. Mr. and Mrs. \V. T. Stephens,M r and Mrs. Herman Dellinger and Misses Mary, Julia and Essie Del linger went to the fair at Calhoun Thursday. Prof, and Mrs. L. F. Head went to Adairsville Friday. Mrs. Renix and little daughter, of Rutland, N. D., visited relatives in this community recently. Dr. R. S. Bradley was called to Fail-mount professionalyy Thurs day night. Mrs. Mollie Lewis visited relatives at Folsom the past week. * ADAIRSVILLE. • ••••**•*• • • Mrs. Dan Greene and children from Cartersville, visited her par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Warde, Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Addington motored to Rome Monday. Mr. \V. A. Haney spent Friday in Calhoun. Mrs. Owen, from Calhoun, visited her sister. Mrs. Hall, recently. C. Fugazzi is sojourning in our town for several days. Quite a crowd from here attended the Gordon County fair last week. Dr. Cai;r has returned from Ho' Springs considerably improved in health. Mrs. Ft. S. Bradley and daughter Dixie, were visitors here Monday. HUBBARDS CROSSING. Cotton picking and opossum hunt ing is the order of the day. Mr. Tol Hubbard says he went out into the woods the other night with opossum that weighed 18 pounds after it was dressed. Miss Fleecy Hubbard visited her sister, Mrs. C. G. Carver Monday. The singing Sunday was enjoyed by all present. It wasgconducted by Mrs. W. E. Hubbard’s brother, and Mrs. George Pinion. Mr. Pinion’s singing was a great help. Mr. Irving Hubbard, who has been off playing ball is now at home again. His many friends are glad to see him. Rev. Peter Hubbard filled his reg ular appointment at this place Sun day last, and also had some good singing with Miss Fleecy Hubbard at the organ. Mr. Bob Hubba<l visited bis brother Tally Hubbard Sunday for the first time in 40 years. We are glad to see our old brothers get to gether again. Messrs. Will and Jesse Hubbard went to Rome Friday to the Wild West show. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hubbard are all smiles over a fine baby boy. Mr. Luther Mayfield made a call in our community Sunday afternoon Master Donald Denning, of near Folsom, is spending a while with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W Adams. Mr. Davis Craig passed through our community Saturday. Mr. Jasper Moorehead and wife spent Sunday and Sunday night with Mr. Lewis Holden and family. Mr. J. B. Adams and daughter, Miss Ora, attended services at Cassville Sunday. Rev. Vick Mathews and Miss Ella Kitnsey passed through here Sunday last. Mr. Walker Stephens was seen in our corner Sunday afternoon. Msr. Bob Griffin and daughter Miss Julia, spent Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Harris. Mr. H. Woodring attended Sunday School at this place Sunday. Everybody is busy getting their cotton off the ground. Mr. Lewis Harris, of Ladds, is spending a while with his uncle, Mr Chas. Hraris. Misses Clara and Onie Harris spent Saturday afternoon with Misses Re na and Hermon Johnson. Mr. John Lowe, of Fairmount spent a while in our town Saturday. Mr. Bob Griffin attended quar terly meeting at Cassville Thursday The trustees of the.literary school at this place and the patrons of this district will meet at the school house Saturday night to decide on who the teacher shall be the coming term Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Yarbrough announce the birth of a son Thurs day. There will be preaching at Cass ville at the Baptist church Sun day morning by Rev. Mr. Bozeman of Atlanta, who was elected pastor. Let everybody go out. A T C O. Mr. and Mrs. Qavid Abies, of Woodstock, visited their mother, Mrs. Abies, here Saturday and Sun day. We are glad to state that Mrs. W M. Weaver, who has been on the sick list, is improving. Mrs. M. E. Felton spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. M. A. Mize. Mrs. J. B. Beavers and family moved to Cartersville the latter part of last week. We wish them much success in making the change. Miss Ida Thompson spent one night last week with Miss Bonnie Weaver. Mr. Jim Cole left Sunday for Eto wah, Tenn. We are glad to learn that Mr. Will Mize is improving. Mr. Emory Pickelsimer and Miss Ola Crews, of Center, visited Miss Estell Green Sunday afternoon. From the way those chilly north winds feel today wo think all those winter wraps that have been stored away in trunks and wardrobes must be taken out and made ready to turn hose cold winds. Mrs. Yancey received a sad mes sage Saturday that her brother was dying. Mr. Joe Thompson, of Souh Geor gia, is spending a few days here with his brother, Mr. Perry Thomp son. Mr. Mose Looney is all smiles. It’s a boy. A good number of the Atco peo ple spent Sat ,y in Cartersville. Mr. Bud .okins, of Atco, has moved over *o 200 street. Welcome Mr. Wadkins. We are glad to have good people move on 200 street Miss Maud Smith is still on the sick list. W T e wish her a speedy re covery. Miss Nell Tumlin visited homo folks last, week at Kennesaw. Miss Nancy Abies has returned home after spending a week with relatives at Rome. • •**••••••• * * IRON HILL. • • * * * * • * * • • • Messrs. W. E. Wingard, L. VV. and H. W. Meeks and J. A. Hubbard haul ed cotton Thursday and Friday to Cartersville and stored it away. There are a good many on the sick list this week. Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Bright at tended the singing at Macidonia Sunday. The many friends were shocked Friday morning when the death of Mr. Z. T. Nichols was flashed through our neighborhood. We wen sorry to give him up, hut God saw host for Mr. Nichols and we had to part with him. Mr. Nichols has been a sufferer for over three years. He leaves, to mourn his death, a wife, six boys and two girls. There were three weddings in our vicinity Sunday. Wonder who it will be next Sunday? Mr. L. C. Gore was ia our vicin ity Sunday. Miss Lula B. Reynolds was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Joe Ramp ley, Sunday. *Mr. W. E. \yingard and Mr. J. A. Hubbard were at Macedonia Sunday Dr. R. E. Ponder, Joe Rampley and Will Williams attended the show in Rome Friday. We had some frost Monday morn ing here. We had a good rain reeenty but not enough to raise the water in the wells. Mr. Joe Rampley visited at River side Sunday. Mr. Will Williams visited home folks at McCormicks Mill Sunday. Mr. Irby Henderson was in King ston Wednesday on business. Messrs. R. and C. Alford passed through here enroute home Sunday . . ... * SUGAR VALLEY. * .... ..... ...i If the cold weather continues Mr Greene is in danger. Mr. Tom Earwood and Mr. Oscar Allen, of Glenview, were in our midst last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Lee Padgett was at Rebeccas Sunday afternoon. Those who represented our valley j at the carnival last Saturday night j were Messrs. Lee Padgett, Grady! Jones, Paul Padgett and John Heath j Mr. Walker Stephens and Mr. John j Craig were in our burg Saturday ] and Sunday. Mrs. Boyd and Mrs. Ephriam | Striplin were among relatives at ! Euharlee Sunday last. The Brown brothers were in our! burg Sunday afternoon. The singing school closed at this 1 place Saturday night and Prof Guinn will return to his home at Adairsville Monday. The singing at Liberty Hill was a great success under Profs. Guinn and Cruse. Prayer meeting will be at Mr. Striplin’s next Sunday night. Let all come out. • * ••••****• * BERRY SCHOOL. * We are indeed glad to see the weather getting colder. It makes us think of the good old winter time. Itev. Mr. Davis, of the school, con ducted the afternoon service last Sunday, for which all the girls came down. We were glad to see them. Come again. Mr. J. W. D. Smith has the job of firing the furnace at Crozer Hall. Mr. Leonard Bell has his eye on one of the girls at the girl’s school. We had a nice time on the moun tain last Saturday. Everybody seem ed to enjoy themselves to the fullest extent. Messrs. Farris Tribble and Dick Smith are at home at Cassville this week. We have arranged a very nice pro gram for Field Day which will come off October 3(>th, and hope to have a large crowd present. The class which is studying the ! negro question in the South has got- I ten very much interested and seem to like the study. We hope more such studies will be taken up later. The gymnasium will soon be fin ished. We wish it was finished now They have about completed the new recitation hall at the girls j school. They are also having electric lights put in there. **• **•*•*••• * PINE GROVE. Rev. Bearden preached at Pine Grove Sunday and delivered a very interesting sermon. He will also preach every fourth Sunday. Mr. Will Bailey and Mr. Jay Boze man were visitors in Stonewall Val ley Sunday afternoon. Mr. Poll Pruitt and sister spent Sunday in our burg. Mr. Will Bailey spent Saturday with his father at Cassville. Messrs. Jiin Bozeman and Elehue Bailey attended the show at Car tersville Saturday night and report a nice time. Messrs. Rile Tatum and Dock Cline made a call in our corner Sunday. Mr. E. L. Bailey made a special call last Sunday afternoon at Wal nut Grove. Wc du-j looking for some frost. How about you all.
