THE LITTLE CANDLES.
..Oh, tell me, fellow traveler—
You’ve jouneyed night and day—
Have you the little candles seen
That bum along the way?
They are the myriad lights of hope
Some lit for you, perhaps for me
And by their light we keep the path
Though not our own they be.
And have you seen mine anywhere.
Too lar ahead for me to see?
Oh, tell me—in some far-oft land
Has one neen lit for me?

CREATORE.
The event of the theatrical season
in our city was Creatore and his
hand last Monday afternoon at the
Grand.
It is a mattter of universal regret
F at there was not a large atten
uunce, for the management of the
Grand certainly deserve the thanks
of the citizens of Cartersville for
bringing such high class entertain
ments to the city.
But what the audience lacked in
numbers it made up in enthusiasm
The program was one of great va
riety and appealed to all tastes. It
would be hard to discriminate, when
all was so inspiring, but perhaps
there were one or two numbers
which won more generous applause
from their intrinsic beauty rather
than from their being classical pro
ductions.
As some one has said. “The secret
of his success is in his leading. It
represents by a passionate nature
the emotions of music,”
Every heart was thrilled and
dreams of the long ago came troop
ing back again, when the seductive
sweetness of the “Blue Danub Walt
zes” filled the air with melody.
And there was a solemn hush over
all when the first notes of the
chimes was struck, and as a mighty
organ, played by a master hand, the
orchestra sounded the gravely sweel
theme “Nearer My God to Thee.”
Truly Creatore is so engrossed in
his work that he is lost to the world
when he is conducting one of his
concerts, and each instrument is to
him as a living, human being, to bo
coaxed on or compelled to respond
to bis musical entreaties. He seems
to lose sight of the. players, and en
voke the instruments themselves.
