NEWNAN, FRIDAY, JULY !K
Bex!ey--Davis.
Few weddings in this vicinity have
equaled in beauty and joyousness that
of Miss Vadu Bexley and Mr. Jonathan
Harrison Davis, which took place Wed
nesday afternoon, June 30, at the home
of the bride’s parents. The home was
artistically decorated with holly, bam
boo, ferns and ivy. A beautiful back
ground of ferns and hydrangeas, inter
mingled with white and pink gerani
ums, were banked high against the
wall, forming a pyramid which mark
ed the place where the couple stood.
The soft glow of the white and pink
candles, shedding their radiance from
the pyramid, added greatly to the
beauty of the scene.
To the mellow strains of "La Sorel-
la,” rendered by the bride’s sister,
Miss idelia Bexley, the bridal proces
sion entered the parlor. The attend
ants were Misses Myrtice Hill, (maid
of honor), Allen Murrah and Eulalah
Davis; Messrs. William Davis, (best
man,) Henry Braswell and Newton
West. The bridesmaids were attrac
tive in frocks of soft, filmy white. The
bride, carrying in her hand the Book
of Books, was lovely in her princesse-
made wedding gown of soft white
mull, elaborately trimmed in laces and
ribbon. Wnile the ceremony -a brief
but impressive one—was spoken by Dr.
S. B. Cousins, of Lutherville, the al
most inaudible notes of "Cl, Promise
Me,” were sounded. After the cere
mony a reception was held, and the
young couple were showered with con
gratulations by their many friends.
The dining-room was made especially
pretty by the Japanese table, over
which was hung a wheel covered with
white and pink roses, beneath which
stood a quaint Japanese parasol, from
which ribbons extended to each corner.
The oriental idea, together with the
color scheme to correspond, was well
carried out. A delicious salad course,
white - and - pink cream, with heart-
shape;! cakes and luscious fruits, were
served in a style and manner befitting
the occasion.
The high esteem in which the young
couple are held was evidenced by the
numerous and handsome gifts received.
The bride is a splendid young woman,
and possesses many attributes that go
to make a most lovable character. The
groom, by his uprightness and fidelity
to business, has made for himself a
most enviable reputation.
The out-of-town guests were Messrs.
West, Spakes, Stovall, William and
Malone Davis, of Temple; Henry R.
Braswell, of Union City; Miss Allene
Murrah, of Carrollton; Miss Daisie
Echols, of Franklin ; Miss Nelle Fos
ter, of Atlanta; Miss Eulalah Davis,
of Temple.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis, accompanied by
several friends, left Thursday morning
for Temple, where they will make their
home. The bride was strikingly hand
some in her going-awa.v suit of Copen
hagen blue silk, touched with cream
insertion and dotted net. The bride and
groom arrived at their home amid
showers of rice and good wishes, where
they were entertained rovally at a re
ception given at the home of the
groom’s father. E. B.

Some people are disposed to criticize
Gov. Brown because he did not tire the
people and the General Assembly to
death with a long-winded inaugural ad
dress. Such criticism is puerile. The
Governor was only telling the people of
the State “howdy” officially. He got
down to real business in his message to
the Legislature.—Columbus Enquirer-

There is more Catarrh in this section of the
country than all other diseases put together, and
until the last few years was supposed to be incur-
ble. For a great many years doctors pronounced
it a local disease and prescribed local remedies,
and by constantly failing to cure with local treat
ment. pronounced it incurable. Science has proven
catarrh to be a constitutional disease and there-
requires constitutional treatment. Hall’s Ca
tarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co.,
Toledo. Ohio, is the only constitutional cure on the
market. It is taken internally in doses from 10
drops toa feaspoonful. It acts directly on the
blood and mucous surfaces of the system. They
offer one hundred dollars for any case it fails to
. Send for circulars and testimonials. Ad

What Constitutes the Best Form of Invest
ment ?
Is it real estate, or is it bank or in
surance stocks? Do you think this?
Think just a little before you say.
Surely it is not gold or silver or copper
mine stocks, is it? You can’t say this,
for the records disprove the assertion.
It is not farming in its many phases, is
it? Hardly ;—no. Then what on earth
is it? “Well 1 have—forgotten, any
way;—I thought so.” Exactly for
gotten ! Does your mind need refresh
ing? “Well, it must, for I can’t call up
in mind the picture.”
Shall I enumerate, cite and call up a
mental picture to your mir.d in which
a few hundred dollars wisely invest
ed made positive, competent, snug
fortunes for people? Should I? Will
you listen? Then listen good, every
body—will you? “Yes, yes; go on;
we will listen !”
In 1880 the Westinghouse air-brake
was invented, patented and put in
stock in small lots. Listen! Ten dol
lars invested in Westinghouse air-biake
has paid its owner in this short time
$480,000.
Take Bell Telephone; $100 in this
has paid $54,000 in dividends. Were
you one of the lucky ones? No; I guess
you said, as thousands did: “It’s no
good.” But you were wrong, wern’t
you? "Yes, yes; 1 am now regretful.”
Linotype type - setting machines,
Victor talking machines, Pullman Car
Co.—in fact, a thousand and one prac
tical inventions. The last one of them
has paid well and quick, and are still
paying handsomely.
Statistics, with good men behind the
figures, prove these statements!
You say then you are going to keep
your eyes open to such opportunities
as may hereaftear come your way in
tnis form? “Yes, I am.”
Does our cotton bale need help? It
wants you? Surely, there is much
room for it. “Indeed, yes.”
Very well, then ;—the chance is go
ing to be presented you. and then—
we’ll see how you look and what you
say!
This is a great modern, practical,
money-making, saving invention, for
people who are wise and practical and
alive to the best intrestes of all—yes,
everybody.
Thirty-one thousand ginneries in the
South, and 14,000,000 bales of the flee
cy staple are calling loudly for this
modern gin compress, which can be at
tached to any ginnery and operated
with 20-horse-power. There is $750
profit on each compress, or 100 per
cent, clear. Does this mean anything
to those who own the stock of the com
pany? Seventy-five per cent, is just
what it means to you and me. Every
wheel, cog, lever, pin and part is safe
ly guarded by patents from the U. S
Government. Able financiers say
“This is the opportunity of a life
time.” Neely Cotton Compress Co.,

The tombstone engraver is probably
not particularly anxious to make a name
for himself.
No telephone is long distance enough
to reach the voice of conscience with
some people.
