city, Rev. S. R. C. Adams and family
left last Saturday for Atlanta, their
future home. Mr. Adams will continue
in evangelistic work.
Dr. .J. P. Atkinson,of Millegeville, son
of Mrs, W. Y. Atkinson of this city,

friends here, has been honored by being
elected an Elder in the Presbyterian
church in Milledgeville.

One of the heaviest rains ever seen
here fell last Monday evening between
7 and 8 o’clock. The record showed
that 1.27 inches of rain fell in less than
an hour. Reports from the county say
that much land was badly washed by

Chief of Police J. D. Brewster, of
Newnan, was in the city last evening on
the return home from Sunuyside, where
he lmd been to attend the funeral and
burial of his uncle, H. T. Patterson,

W. O. Herndon, Esq., of this county,
won $250 in the Weekly Constitution’s
agents’ contest, the results of which
have just been announced. The_first
prize of $i,(XK) in this contest went to
Mr. D. W. Perdue, of Grffin. Messrs.
Herndon and Perdue were also winners
of large sums in the Constitution’s cot
ton receipts contest.
George Maxey, Link Tompkins and
Dock Hays, all colored, were before
Mayor Burdett last Saturday charged
with ‘blind tigering.” Maxey was
fined $35 and Hays $25 and both paid
their fines. Tompkins was given $25 or
30 days. He didn't have the cash and
was forced ta nccept the 30 days alter
native.
