lightfully entertained last Wednesday

Clifford Jackson, while cutting at a
dog, accidently cut Robert Bohannon
on his leg. The wound wns dressed by
Dr. Glower and while painful, is not
serious.

Miss Barron, of Corinth, were in Grant-
ville Friday.

nan, and Jack Spalding, of Atlanta, at

give a spelling bee at the Academy Tues

Mrs. Nolle G. Burger, organizer of the
W. C. T, U., at the M. E. Church Wed
nesday evening, which was tnncli en
joyed. She liasa charming personality,
is a fluent talker and made a deep im
pression on her hearers. At a special
meeting of the ladies this morning, a
W. O. T. U. was organized. Mrs. Bur
ger will lecture again tonight.
The eldest son of Mr. L. J. Lowry,
who was carried to a sanitarium in At
lanta a few days ago in a helpless con
dition ns the result of cigarette smoking,
was brought home Monday. His con
dition was botli hopeless and incurable.

gentleman an almost fatal stsil» in
the breast. Before that time he
wtis accused of killing a negro in
an election row on Greenville
street in this city.

“J. M. Thompson, the man who
was killed was about 50 years old,
a carpenter by trade and is sur
vived by four brothers and three
sisters. His brothers are G.
Thompson, who lives 14 miles be
low Carrollton; S. M. Thompson,
of Palmetto; .1. IT. Thompson, of
Coweta county; and Francis
Thompson, of Glynn county. He
has a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth For-
dam, of Newnan, another, Mrs.
Mary Jones, of Carrollton, and a
third sister who disappeared many
years ago and whose whereabouts
cannot be discovered. In addition
to these he leaves two children,
Kirby and Wayne Thompson.”
J. M. Thompson Killed in At
lanta.
J. M. Thompson, known in this
county as Monroe Thompson, was
stabbed to death in Atlanta Thurs
day night of last week by a man
named Walter Shurley. Shurley’s
18-year-old brother bail a difficulty
with Thompson’s IS-year-old son,
the men quarreled about the mat
ter and engaged in a terrible duel
with knives. The trouble arose
at a boarding house on Bereau
Avenue, where both Thompson
and Shurley lived. Thompson
died in a few minutes after the
light euded. His antagonist was
