expected to arrive in Nownun next
week to visit his tainiIy and spend
a vacation of several months.
Judge Powell will receive a hearty
welcome from his Xewnan friends,
among whom he has not been for
several years.
Newnan Chapter, l'nitcd Daugh
ters of the Confederacy, will hold

room next Monday afternoon at
three o'clock, in honor of Jefferson
Davis, on the anniversary of liis
birth. Kx-Con federate veterans

Mr. .1. C. Hood, of Newnan. is
dangerously ill at the home of his
brother. Dr. Hood, at Sargent.
Mr. Hood, who is with Black
Bros. Co. in this city, is one of
Coweta’s best citizens. .Several
months ago he removed to Newnan
from his fine farm in Cedar Creek
district and entered business here.
He is a successful farmer and busi
ness man and has a host of friends.

ment of the Normal and Industrial
College, at Milledgeville, begins
next Sunday. This year’s gradu
ating class is composed of eighteen
young women, among the number
being Miss Evelyn Martin, of Xew

o’clock, Miss Hollars and Mrs. Moreland
Hollars, at the home of the latter, will

The Parsonage Society was entertain
ed in a charming manner Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. L. P.
Bryant. Delicious rosettes and waiters

served. Mrs. Irby White and Miss
