The Newnan News has inaugurated a grand voting contest, in which an elegant piano will be given free to a young lady resident of Coweta county. The conditions of the contest are named below. Some young lady will get this beautiful musical instrument without the payment of one cent toward the purchase price of the piano. The instrument is a CLINTON PIANO made in Boston, Mass., by one of America’s leading manufacturers of musical instruments. It is sold in this section of Georgia by Prof. Charles Astin, who is well known throughout the State as a musician of wonderful talent and varied experience. Prof. Astin places his musi cal reputation as a guarantee back of the Clinton piano, and declares it is the best instru ment on the American market at $350. Pianos just like the one the News proposes to give away are to be found in scores of Georgia’s best homes. Several are in Newnan homes and one may be seen in the First Methodist Church in this city. This beautiful piano sells every where for $350 and is well worth the money. This detailed description of the instrument is given to demonstrate that the News is not offering to give away a cheap piano, but an instrument that would be an ornament in any home in Coweta county and a source of rare pleasure to any musician. The young lady who wins this splendid gift will be fortunate indeed. The Contest and the Conditions r, < f The News “despises a dull time,” everywhere and at all times; and is going to give away this magnificent $350 piano simply to stimulate interest in this paper among the people of Coweta county. The News is a healthy, vigor ous, growing newspaper; is in position to “make things hum” during this fall and winter, and is going to do it. This is the “why and wherefore” of the News’ magnificent and extremely liberal offer. Now some young lady in Coweta county is going to get the beautiful Clinton piano. That much is already settled. The question of who is to be the delighted recipient is the question to be settled by the contest. The conditions of the contest are few and simple. The young lady who receives the highest number of votes in the contest wins the piano. The basis of voting is the payment of subscriptions to the News. For every dollar paid on subscription 100 votes may be cast, and for every fraction of one dollar paid a proportionate number of votes may be cast. Payment of amounts already due, dating from Jan. 1, 1 905, will count the same as advance payments. A careful record of the voting will be kept, and the progress of the contest noted each week in the News. The contest will close on Monday, Dec. 24, 1 906, at four o’clock in the afternoon, by Newnan city time as indicated by the court house clock. The piano will be awarded as a Christmas present to the winner. A SPIRITED CONTEST IS PROMISED This great piano contest promises to be absorbingly interesting and spirited. It is not in the nature of a lottery or gambling device. Subscribers of the News and persons wishing to become subscribers pay the regular subscription price for the paper and are given the privilege of recording their votes for the young lady whom they desire to receive the piano. That is the sum total of the contest. It will be a friendly voting contest between friends of perhaps a score or more popular young ladies of the county.
