Obituary.
Mr*. Sophiu Elizitieth Miller whs
burn I‘>b, 7, 18'iit. anil died June 11(1,
1918. She was the eldest daughter of
Mr. P. M. Waltom, near Moreland.
She was. first married in Mr. Elbert
Drake, with whom she lived happily
until September, DUO, when death sep
arated them. In April of the following
year she was married to Mr. W. H.
Miller, near Haralson.
1 did not become personally acquaint
ed with her until two years aRO. when
1 was called into her community to
teach. 1 hoarded in her home, and that
was when I became attached to her.
She was a woman of exceptionally fine
character. Her kindly, optimistic spir
it, her genial disposition, and her smil
ing face reflected her charming person
ality, and she won a warm place in the
hearts of everyone with whom she came
in contact. During the two summers
that 1 boarded in her home she always
seemed cheerful. Her stepchildren
were devoted to her. because of her
maternal love and devotion toward
them.
Previous to.her death she moved her
church letter from Moreland to Bethel
Methodist church, near flaralson. and
lived a consistent and self-sacrificing
member up to the lime of her death.
In the Sunday-school she was a faith
ful and conscientious teacher, in the
church a loyal member, in the commu
nity one who lived to uplift, nod in the
home her place cannot he filled.
Oh, how we miss her smiling face,
and her words of comfort nod encctur-
agement! Her sweet voice haunts us
yet.
I have often heard her Sunday-school
pupils speak of her loyalty toward tie I
Sunday-school and church. She has left I
an influence for good, for her life was
a benediction to the world and an honor
to the Lord.
Her interment was at Pitts' ceme
tery, where the funeral service was
conducted by her pastor. Rev. J. G.
Davis. He spoke comforting words to
the family and friends, and wc left her
sleeping, there to await the resurrec
tion morn. A. M. S.

Two Children Had Croup.
The two children of J. W. Nix. mer
chant, Cleveland, Ga., had croup last
winter. One was a boy of fi, the other
a girl of 8 years. Mr. Nix writes: "Both
got so choked up they could hardly
breathe and couldn’t talk. 1 gave them
Foley’s Honey and Tar and nothing else
arid it entirely cured them.” This re
liable medicine should be in every home,
for it gives immediate relief from colds,
coughs and croup, heals raw, inflamed
throats and Logins phlegm. J F. Lee

Never carry your business home with
you. Transact it at your store or office,
and leave its care*, perplexities and
trials there. Do not let its worries in
fluence you at home, to fret yourself
and those art,und you. The mind at
home should be drawn away from bu-ti
neas cares and directed in a channel to
interest ami instruct and freshen and
strengthen and prepare it for the duties
of to-morrow. "All work and no play
makes Jack a dull boy.’’ and all busi
ness and no recreation lessens the c»-
pacity, power and strength of the mind
to do the necessary thinking for con

When Baby Has the Croup.
When a mother is awakened from
sound sleep to iind her child who has
gone to bed apparently in the best of
health struggling for breath, she is
naturally alarmed. Yet if she can
keep her presence of mind and give
Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy every
ten minutes until vomiting is produced,
quick relief will follow and the child
will drop to sleep, to i.waken in the
morning as well as ever. This remedy
has been in use for many years, with
uniform sin cess. Obtainable every

Recently Smith hired a horse for a
canter along the pike, but the animal,
having neither a sweet nature nor a
great desire to work, began to buck,
and the rider was ungracefully thrown
through the air and dropped by the
wayside.
"HpIIo, Smith,” smilingly remarked
a friend the following day. "I saw you
out riding yesterday."
“You did?" responded Smith, begin
ning to wonder a bit.
"Yes, ” continued the other, his smile
broadening. “What made you drop
down so quickly?”
"Case of necessity, ” answered Smith.
"Did you see anything up where I could
hold on to?”
Suspicions are often worse than facts.
