Prof. Paul Cousins, of Shorter Collego, Rome, and Mr. Robt. Cousins, of Mereer University, Macon, are spending their Christmas vacation with their mother, Mrs. Ella Cousins. Miss Louise Colley, who is teaching at Stockbridge, is at home for the holi days. Mrs. E. C. Norris and Misses Lucile and Beatrice Norris leave this week for a visit of several weeks to relatives in Plorida. Miss Thelma Latimer has returned from a pleasant visit to relatives at Woodbury. Their many friends here regret very much to lose them from our town, and wish them success in their new homo. Mrs. Anna Clark and Miss Lula Cole have taken charge of the telephone ex change here for the coming year. Rov. H. E.Stipe filled his appointment here Sunday, and was entertained for the, day by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wyche. Rev. P. A. Bone announces special Christmas services at the Baptist church. Scogin. Master Fred Leo has been seriously ill for several days witli pneumonia. We hope for the lad an early recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Chambless, of Grantville, were guests Sunday of Mr. and Airs. Russell Chambless. We are glad to know that little Nottie Gilbert is much improved, after her late serious illness. Mr. and Airs. Leander Colley, Mrs. Dan Patterson and Mrs. George McKoon, jr., spent Thursday in Newnan. SENOIA. A wedding of much interest to their many friends was that of Airs. Hattie Gray Harper and Dr. A. Roy Hogg, which was solemnized Wednesday even ing at-the Lutheran church, Rev. W. A. Ballentine officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Amaziah Monos and lit tle daughter, Jane, of Chattanooga, Tenn., arrived Saturday, and will spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hand. Col. W. K. Fielder, of Cedartown, spent Sunday here, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Freeman. College girls returning home for the holidays are Misses Carrie Belle Arnall and Etta Steed, from Wesleyan; Misses Kathleen Powlor, Ina Mae Carmichael, Virginia Noian and Edith Atkinson, from G. N, & I. College. Messrs, C. C. McKnight, J. H. -Me- Knight, Wm. Row aud Nixon Arnall, of. Senoia, and Mr. Vic Manget, of Now- nan,' left for South Georgia Monday morning on a hunting trip. Mr, and Mrs. J. D. Hunter and Mrs. Emma Benton attended the funeral of Mr. W. W. Tracy, in Atlanta, Monday. Mrs. W. D. Gibson, who has been teaching at Royston, returned home Wed nesday. Mrs. R. W. Freeman and little daugh ter, Mary, left Thursday for Cedartown to spend Christmas with the former’s parents, Col. and Mrs. W. K. Fielder. Quite an interesting program was ren dered by the children of the Presbyte rian, church Sunday evening, followed by a splendid address by the pastor, Rev. Mr. Clark. Miss Lois Hardy, who lias been teach ing expression in Mississippi, returned home Friday for the holidays. Miss Annie Mae Arnall returned home Saturday from Metter, where she has been teaching. Col. Mr. Hugh Glass’ hog leads in weight, taking age into consideration, while Mr. W. B. San ders pushed him close. Mr. T. B. San ders killed the largest one, but it was older,. -Mr. J. D. Mrs. Ghestley Hubert, of Canton, is spending the holidays with her parents here. Rev. 7j. Speer will preach a special Christmas sermon at the Methodist church next Sunday. Everybody invited. Many of our people are being hard put to it to raise nioney with which to pay the heavy taxes levied upon them. We think the County Commissioners have acted wisely in adopting n policy of retrenchment in the administration of county affairs. This will bring some re lief to the heavily burdened tax-payers. Cries of distress are coining from many poor people in, this part of the county, and what is to become of them we don’t know.
