OBITUARY.
On the morning of Oct. 20th,
1932, as the clock was striking
the hour of nine, death’s icy
.ouch unbarred the door of Buf
fer; ng and pain, and the spirit
if Mrs. Willie Doke winged its
flight to the God who gave it.
For three weeks she had been
con fined to her bed, but bore her
offiictions mravely. Just before
the end she prayed if consistent
with God’s will that death might
come to her relief, assuring her
loved ones that there was no
cloud in the sky, no fear on the
way, but that she was joyfully
to meet her Saviour face to face.
‘Ore by one were passing over,
To the land of love and light,
Where the heart is never weary,
Where the day is always bright.”
Willie Antoinette Kennedy
was born May 23, 1854, in Han
ok county, was married in
1839 to Dennis Doke of this
•omty, who with two children
mrvive her.
Besides her husband and
hfdren Mrs. Doke is survived
by one sister and three brothers,
Miss Kittie Kennedy, Messrs. J.
B. and A. S. J. Kennedy of Dev
ereaux and Mr. R. L. Kennedy
of Florida. Mrs. Doke’s life
was an example of Christian
gentleness and faith. She was
n member of the Methodist!
church.
The was always an affection-'

of the Superior Court, said County:
The petition of R. L. VanLanding
iam, shows:
1. That he is guardian of Roscoe
VanLandingham, 19 years of age;
Marion VanLandingham, 16 years of
age; Carroll VanLandingham, 13 1-2
.ears of age; and Grace Van Land
ngham, 10 years of age; having here
of ore .been duly appointed in said
County as guardian of said minors,
nd makes this application in his
representative capacity as such guar
dian.
2. Petitioner further shows that
the last will and testameent of Mrs.
Josie Hall, late of said county, de
eased, duly probated and admitted
to record in the office of the ordinary
jf said county,- contained the follow
ing item, tc-wit: “I give, devise and
bequeath unto Laura Iverson and;
Etta VanLandingham, jointly, for
and during their natural lives with
remainder after the death of the last
surviving one to the children of Etta
VanLandingham, the house and lot
and all the land connected therewith
whereon I now live and known as the
Carswell place.”
3. Petitioner's said wards are the
children of the said Etta VanLand
ingham, and the lands referred to in
aid item of said will are as follows:
ill that tract or parcel of land
mown as the Carswell housa and Jot
n or near the town of Irwinton, in
.he county aferessid, containing 3714
teres, more er leas, adjoining the
ands of Mrs. M. A. Smith on the
lorthwest. Carswell Beall place on
he northeast, Mrs. Mary Brundage
:nd k. E. Spears let on the south
ast, and the rond hading from J. W.
Brundage place to Mclntyre on the
outhwest, being ths lands conveyed
by Mrs. 1. B. Carswell to Mrs. Josie
Haji on the first day of September,
1894, by deed recorded on September
18, 1902, in Deed Book “I”, folio 119-
120, in the Clerk’s office Superior
Court of said county.
4. By virtue of the said will of
the said Mrs. Josie Hall, petitioner’s
said wards are the owners of the re
mainder interest in said lands las
above set forth, and petitioner de
sires to tell said remainder interest
fcr ra-invoetment, for the reason
that the value of said realty consists
largely in the _ dwelling and other
buildings thereon, and that the' in
come received from said property by
the life tenants boing only about S6O
per annum gross is so small that said
life tenants cannot afford to keep said
buildings and the property generallj
n repair, and the improvements up
m said lands are decaying and there
>y the value of the remainder interest
in said property of said wards is de
preciating.
5. Since the said Laura Iverson
and Etta VanLandingham hold joint
ly a life estate in said property as
above indicated, it will be to the best
advantage that the whole of said
property, that is, both the interest of
said life tenants therein and the re
mainder interest of said wards, be
sold joijitly, and said life tenants will
join your petitioner in the making of
1 any such sale of the whole interest in
■ i said property as may be authorised
I by the Honorable Judge of said court;
■ {the proceeds of such sale to be rt
■ invested upon such terms as will ih-
11 vest each of said life tenants and the
said remaindermen with the, same
’{interest and estate, respectively, that
i each now holds in the property afoTje
i said, by virtue of said will.
I 6. The proceeds of said sale will
•: be invested in capital stock of tpe
11 Citizen? Bank, of Cairo, a conserya
-1 tive, safe and prosperous banking in
-1 stitution, whose’’capital stock will not
depreciate in value, nor be dependent
> upon said life tenants to preserve tthe
’ same fron^he income thereof. _
