Services were held here Sunday
but the crowd was rather small
owing to sickness in several fam
ilies.
Miss Bessie Walden is spending
some time at home now, after
being away in Atlanta for some
time studying stenography.
Miss Ells Collins, a very charm
ing young lady of Macon, spent
the week end with her sister,
Mrs. J. T. Ethridge.
Mrs. J. E. Holliman and little
sons, Carl and Garvis, went up
to Macon one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Deason’s
little son had the misfortune of
falling out of a chair in the fire
last Friday morning, burning one
hand real badly.
We were glad to snake hands
with Mrs. Dora Hartley again
Sunday. She has been kept close
at home for some time on account
of hev little daughter having the
whooping cough.
Mrs. Ethridge spent several
days with relatives in Macon last
week.
Quite a crowd of darkies and a
few white people attended the
show in Gordon last Friday, but
it was not praised very highly,
so all who stayed at home didn’t
miss anything.
-Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hudson
passed through the city Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Helton spent
Sudday with Mrs. G. E. Price;
Little Thelma Martin is some
better now, hope she will soon
be up again.
Miss Ruth Hargrove and broth
er from Milledgeville came down
in their car last Sunday and
spent a short while with Mrs. J.
E. Holliman,
Miss Julia Todd has been spend
ing some time with relatives in
Macon.
Mr. J. L. Quinn of Macon came
down Saturday night to see his
wife, who is spending a while
with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.
F. Lee.
Mrs. Miles Bloodworth made a
flying trip to the little city Mon
day.

Thompson Branch Dots.
The school at Thompson Branch
is progressing nicely with Mrs.
Laura B. Outlaw as teacher.
New scholars are steadily coming
in. There seems to be among
the pupils an ever increasing de
sire to acquire at least a common
school education. The school
room has been made more com
fortable by having a splendid
heater installed.
A number of friends and rela
tives enjoyed a birthday dinner
at the hospitable home of Mr.
and Mrs. Melton Eadys Sunday
last. It coming so near Thanks
giving, “Mr. Turkey” held an
important place in the menu. All
report having enjoyed the day
and it goes without saying that
they enjoyed the dinner.
Dr. O. F. Moran and Mr. Hom
ar Barnes of East Baldwin made
a short visit in our midst last
week, having made the trip in
the formers car.
Miss Annie Patterson of Mid
way spent a few days of lass
week with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew Patterson.
Mrs. M. A. Barnes is visiting
her daughter Mrs. Hiram Johns.
Mr. Erby Johns spent the
week end with home folks, Mr.
C. C. Johns and family.

are busy now, sowing grain, har
vesting yeas, peanuts, potatoes

It seems that since there is a
good crop to harvest and judging
from the sounds of the horns at
night there’s a good crop of pos
sums and everybody is doing
their part of the work in this
particular line. They are too
busy in the day to indulge in the
sport of shooing birds but they
enjoy the “yelps” of the dogs so
much that they hunt at night
when convenient, and if not some
will tie a dog near the house in
order that they may hear that
“sound” that nothing else can
make so distressing as a dog, and
dogs are supplied with good
lungs.
