QUARTERLY CONFERENCE MET
AT SALEM.
The .Second Quarterly Conference of
the Methodist churches of the Irwin
ton Circuit was held at Salem church
Saturday and Sunday, Pastor C. C.
Boland and Dr. Glenn, presiding eld
er conducted the services. A large
crowd attended. Dinner was served on
the grounds. , <;
Dr. Glenn preached two strong, up
lifting and most inspiring sermons.
The amount of quarterly dues paid in
by the entire charge was encouraging
to theipastor and Stewards. The
amount paid by each church will be
published later. j < >

Renovations and Additions Make It a
“Spotless Town.”
EXPECT BANNER SEASON
Central is Planning Mammoth Adver
tising Campaign.
• It will be a new, a hardly recogniza
ble Tybee that" will greet the visitor
to that popular resort this season.
Improvements that have been under
way for months have transformed the
island into a veritable spotless town.
New roads Save been built, new’
streets opened, and that part of South
End devoted principally to the pleas
ure seeker has been subjected to an
extensive overhauling and renovation
which will make it appear at a fairy
land at night.
The dancing arena has been railed
off from the remainder of the pavil
lion with galvanized iron piping. The
old band stand has been demolished
and in its plaee a modern one with a
iarge sounding board erected.
ORCHESTRA ENGAGED.
A well trained orchestra of six piec
es has been engaged to furnish music
every day throughout the season, for
dancing on week days, and to render
concerts on Synday.
Hotel to Open May 27th.
The hotel will be opened on May 27
by the Georgia Hotel Men’s Convention
at which a special dinner will be serv
ed.
Adequate precautions for the protec
tion of bathers will be taken by the
proprietors of all bath houses on the
island. An ample number of. life guards
with full equipment will be on duty
at all times, while dangerous places it
the surf will be marked with red
dags.
The Central of Georgia Railway Co.
is expecting the coming season tc
prove the best in the history and is
prepared to handle record crowds.
It is planned to make Tybe the mec
ca of visitors from all parts of the in
terior of Georgia, Florida, South Car
olina and Alabama. An extensive ad
vertising campaign to exploit the ad
/antages of Tybee as a pleasure re
sort will shortly be begun by the rail
way company.

new twelve-page folder containing In
formation and illustrations of differ
ent places cf interest at Tybee and Sa
vannah is now being printed. Upon
its completion, some time this week, it
will be widely distributed throughout
the interior.
In addition to a big advertising cam
paign will be conducted through the
local newspaper. ,
Excursions to Tybee will be operated
thes Season by the Central, Seaboard
Air Line, Atlantic Coast Line, South
ern railways from all interior points.
The first Sunday excursion from
Macon, Augusta, Dublin and inter
mediate points will be operated on
May 28. A round trip rate from At
lanta of $5 will be maintained for
“Week-enders” throughout the season
In,addition special rates will be mad;
on season and ten-day tickets from al:
points in Georgia, Florida, South Car
olina and other Southern states.
Many new features ot the amuse
ment park variety will also be seen al,
the island this year.
