Why Jhe Savings
Pledge
During the present intensive War
Savings campaign we are asked by
the President-and by .Secretary Me
Adoo to pledge ourselves to save and
with our savings to buy at definite
times a specific amount of War Sav
ings Stamps. Why should we 1 e
called upon to do it?
We are called upon to do it I e
/ cause, i s President W;1 on says, this
is a war of nations, not of armies,
and everyone iu the .'and must do h s
share. So far more than 2,000,000
men have gone into the Army and
Navy and 1.000,000 more are to join
before August 1. These 3,000,000
men give themselves as their dona
tion to the war. Tbe remaining 97,
000,000 people left at home must
give something else as their share.
This savings pledge gives the stay
at-homes an opportunity for service.
We are asked to pledge ourselves to
save and economize, to use labor and
materials only as necessity demands,
and invest our savings in War Sav
ings Stamps.
The government asks us to do this
because the amount of labor and ma
terial in the country is limited; it is
purely a question of supply and de
mand. If we use the supply the
government does not have it for war
needs. And the smaller the amount
the government has for uso the long
er will the war last.
This is War Savings day.' Let’s
help bring an early victory.

240 Pound Pig.
With corn above 50 e'ents hogs eat
their heads off very quickly. The
hog that taks two or three months to
get on full feed never brings you a
profit.
When you are ready to put your
shoacs on feed, begin with the B. A.
Thomas’ Hog Medicine. Use regular
ly and watch your shoats round out
into fat hogs in nine l months —hogs
going well over 200 pounds and as
high as 240 pounds. Fignre the av
erage feeding and you will see why
the B. A. Thomas medicine is a good
investment. Try feeding out your
hogs on this plan and if you are not
more than pleased, we will refund
the cost of the medicine.

Education Day
June Thirtieth
It is proposed by the Education
Commission that fifteen million dol
lars be raised in three years for Bap
tist Schools in the South. Os this ।
amount Georgia is asked to raise sl,:
200,000.00 for her system of Baptist
Schools including Mercer University,
Bessie Tift College and the several
secondary schools, etc., owned and
operated by Georgia Baptists-
The aim set by Baptists as to stu
dents in their schools in the South is
35,000 students enrolled, including
3.500- ministerial students. Only a
Christian institution can truly train
Christian leaders and workers. Only
a denominational institution can train
denominational leaders and workers.
The Baptist pastors and Sunday
School leaders of this section are deep
ly interested in this great educational
effort, as are all good -people- They
urge that all friends of this cause at
tend Sunday School-on Sunday, June
30th, and by their presence and their
participation in the exercises of the
day encourage and help to meet the
Christian educational needs of our
State.

the term beginning January 1, 1919,
subject to the rules of the Primary
ordered by the Democratic State

It has beeu more than half a cen

office has been continuously held by
citizens of Greene county, for nearly
twenty-four years, and by the pres

nearly eight years.
Since the organization of the Oc

er than two terms, and if Judge Park
is re-elected the precedent o( a hun
dred years will be broken.
I respectfully solicit the support of
the people of the Circuit, and if elect
ed. I promise faithfully to devote my i
entire time to the discharge of the
duties of the office. I shall give the
people nf the circuit, as far as in my
power lies, a irjmpf, energetic, econ
omical, and business-like administra
tion of the judicial business of the
circuit. If elected, it will Le a pleas-:
ure to me, between the terms of reg-'
ular court to visit the several coun- i
ties in the circuit, for the purpose of
disposing of such motions and Cham
bers proceedings as may arise, there
by conserving the convenience of
members of the bar and litigants.
Isl all be deeply grateful for the
support of the people for this import
ant and honorable office.
Very respectfully,
Edward R. Hines.
