i For Congress
To the voters of the Tenth Congress
ional District of Georgia.
’ lam a candidate foP the 66th Con
gress, to succeed myself, subject to
such rules as have been adopted by
the Congressional Executive Commit
tee of said District. I haye endeav
oree during my encumbency of office
to care for the interest and welfare of
the people of the District whom I
have the honor to represent. Dur
ing the past two years I have been
kept constantly in Washington, and
have been deprived of the opportun-
। ity and pleasure of visiting you, as I
! would have done had circumstances
! been different. However, I feel that
my highest duty required that I
! should remain at my post in Wash
ington during these perilous times,
' where I could lend my aid to the
successful prosecution of the war.
1 If it is the wish of the people of
the Tenth District that I be returned
to Cosgress, I shall give my unstint
ed efforts to the prosecution of thp
war to a speedy apd victorious con
clusion. At the conclusion of peace
t I shall try to procure passage of such
legislation as shall conserve the inter
ost of the entire people of America,
i and guarantee to them a lasting and
r permanent peace.
, Thanking you for hearty and gen
erous support in the past, and hoping
that my candidacy will again meet
with your approval, lam.
Yours sincerely,
Carl Vinson.

IRWINTON, WILKINSON COUNTY GEORGIA, FRIDAY, JULY 26, 1918.
Cattle Dipping
In the South
Reports to the Bureau of Animal
Industry disclose that May set a new
record in the work of eradicating the
cattle-fever tick. In that month the
number of cattle dipped was 5,468,
600, the largest number reported in
any one month since the campaign
began actively in 1906. The big
figures are believed to indicate the
unanimity with which southern live
stock raisers have joined in the fight
to free the South from the tick by
1921. The number of dipping vats
available in May was 25.911 and 338
Federal inspectors, 284 State inspect
ors, 1,426 county inspectors supervis

On August 1, the supplying of war
industries with common labor will be
centralized in the U. S. Employment
service of the Department of Labor
and all independent recruiting of
common labor by manufacturers hav
ing a payroll of more than 100 men
will be diverted to the U. 8. Employ
ment service. The above action was
found necessary to overcome a peril
ous shortage of unskilled labor in war
industries. This shortage was ag
gravated by au almost universal prac
tice of labor stealing and poaching.
Prevent Hog Cholera
The B- A. Thomas Hog Powder
has a record of 95% cures of Hog
’ Cholera. If you feed jour hogs as
dieted, you need never fear hog
cholera nor any other hog disease.
And the directions are verv simple,
just about what you are doing, plus
a few cents worth of B. A. Thomas'
Hog Powder in the feed twice a week.
Usually, though, Cholera gets in
before we know it. Then it requires
close attention to each hog—each hog
must be dosed —and if you will dose
them as directed, you will save bet
ter than 90 per cent. If don't,
the B. A- Tborpa^ medicine costs you

Family Reunion
Mrs Martha Jane Davidson, on
Monday July 22, her sixty-ninth
birthday, was surrounded by a large
and happy gathering of children and
grandchildren at the old home p’ace
on land which has been in possession
of the Davidsons since 1803.
In the forenoon sermons by Rev
Collins and Rev Taylor interested
the crowd. At the conclusion of the
services a plenteous feast of every
seasonable good thing to eat, appetiz
ingjy prepared was spread on a long
table under the pleasant shade of aa
oak and children, grandchildren, kin
folks did all that could have been ex
pected to such a dinner.
The afternoon was happily passed
in taking pictures, and talking to rel
atives whose homes are far away, and
was concluded by a watermelon cut
ting in which all seemed to be inter
ested. The writer and other "out
siders" thoroughly enjoyed the day
