AGRICULTURAL SCHOOL
The Tenth District Agricultural
School, along with the other eleven
district schools, was designed to give
ordinary high school training to boys
and girls in English, History, Mathe
matics and Science, together with
special training in Agriculture, Farm
Mechanics and Home Economics.
This school is located in Hancock
county, three miles east of Sparta, on
the Macon Branch of the Georgia
Railroad. It is high and drv, with
the purest air and the best of drink
ing water.
There is a farm of 270 acres —120
in cultivation, the rest in pasture
and grounds. There are three brick I
buildings —a boy's dormitory, a girl’s!
dormitory with kitchen and dining,
room, and an academic building with i
domestic science kitchen, laboratory. )
library and auditorium.
There are four horses, ten cow’s, a
registered Jersey bull, three register
ed Poland China hogs and other com
moner cattle. '1 here is a izood horse
barn and before the year is out, we
hope to build a new dairy barn and
silo.
There is a shop equipped with ker
osene engine, dynamo, saws, planer,
lathe and hand tools, and another en
gine for pumping water into the
buildings, shower baths, bath-tubs, etc.
There is a poultry yard and a
school garden of twenty sections;

) deuing. An orchard has been started
’ and small fruits will be raised onoth
er year.

term. With the renewed inter
est in education that has been
aroused in the county recently,)

have secured places to board.

pupils who are pleased to know;
that they are to have the same
, efficient teachers again.

) during the spring term, but a
; talented musician, Miss Nina
i Ragan, will have charge of the
) music class this fall.
Mr Stout of Wrightsville was in
Irwinton Saturday and Sunday.

guests of Mrs J. R. Dixon Saturday
evening.
Miss Benita Dixon entertained a

boro and Irwinton Friday evening at

Miss Alice Parker has returned
from a visit to relatives iu Macon.
Miss Fannie Yawu has returned to
her home at Mcßae after a visit to
her sister. Mrs W. H. Parker.
Miss Edna Earle Raines of Macon,
Miss Ruth DuPree of Dublin, were
guests of Mr and Mrs B. I. Stevens
