TUBERCULOSIS
The death rate in tuberculosis is de-
I creasing in the United States, but is
I still nnr.h too hish- Much needs to
' be done—Georgia needs a larger and
i mere modern' Sanatorium- -and badly
I needs a Sanatorium for negroes. The
State Board of Health, has each >^ear
! recommended that these two ’inßiove
; ments, be made —they are urgently nec-
I esssary.
: The public should make insistent de
i " and upon the coming Legislature for
the erection ot a larger Sanatorium fin
whites with provision for treatment oi |
negro tubercular patients. Forty-five
per cent or more of Georgia’s popula
tion is negroes, and they suffer with
and spread tuberculosis to a greaver
i degree than the white race. Any anti
tubercuolsis program which does not
take into serious consideration the ne
gro tuberculate is doomed to failure 1
at its inception. '
Tuberculosis is ‘not inherited. This 1
is a disease that is caused by infection •
: with a specific germ which always
1 comes from another case of tuberculo-1
• sis. , !
i Childhood is the usual time of life 1
! when tuberculosis is contracted—but
! one may not break down with the dis
I case until later life.
No state car thrive while its citi
-1 zens waste their resources of health,
bodily energy, time and brain power,
any more than a nation may prosper
that wastes its natural resources. Ap
ply to the Georgia State Board of;
j Health for pamphlets and other infer
i mation. Ask them any question along
I thesu lines.

once or twice a year.
