Novem/ber 23, 1922
Editor The Bulletin,
irwinton, Ga.
Dear Sir:
We, the undersigned citizens
of Houston County, spent sev
eral days prior to the recent elec
tion in your good city and coun
ty in the interest of the amend
ment creating peach county.
Please permit us through your
excellent paper in behalf of the
citizens of the proposed Peach
County to express to the people
of your community and section
our genuine appreciation of
their fine courtesy and consid
erate hearing and for the very
generous igupport given our
bill.
While a majority of the small
number voting trhoughout the
। State were against us, and the
I verdict at the polls was a bit
ter dispppointment to us, this
being the only measure of the
kind ever to fail of ratification
and none having been put thru
the legislature by cleaner and
more honorable methods, we
hrabor no resentment or un
friendliness toward those who
felt constrained to vote against
us. We are confident- that had
we anticipated that the fight
against the ratification of our
measure would be so extensive
and vigorous in time to rally
our forces efficiently adn to
adequately present to the vot
ers of the State the need of the
new county, the justice and the
merits of the proposed divison
and the benefit accruing there
from to the entire State, ther
would have been a much larger
vote in favor of the amendment
and the division so necessary
for the peace and prosperity of
the entire section concerned,
both old counties and new, wou
Id have been consumated with
out further delay.
Thanking you for your kind
ness, we are
Cordially yours,
DR. J. R. KTNNEY,
s: W. HUNTER,
