NOTICE
To the Qualified Voters
of the City of Gordon
Notice is hereby given io the voters
of the City of Gordon of the passage
of the Ordinance hereinafter printed
io full, rela.ing to the sale of the City
electric light distribution system and
plant and of the intention of the
Mayor and Aidermen to make sale
thereof unless objected to or protested
by petition of twenty per cent of the
qualified voters of said City, as
provided by law.
Th’S notice is published by order of
the Muyor and Aldermen, once a
week for three consecutive weeks.

oi Gordon.
Wi -rea< the City of Gordon is the
owner of an elecj ic pl nt, distribution
system and transformer station by
which the City is served with electric
current and
Whereas, in the opinion of the
Mayor and Aldermen, consituting the
Board of Council, it is to the interest
of the Citv and its inhabitants, to sell
eaid plant and distribution system to
Georgia Power Company, and
through it obtain an adequate and
dependable supply of electric current
for all purposes and uses; and
Whereas negotiations with said
Company have resulted in an agree
ment, and the giving of an option for
the purchase of said electric system,
as follows, towit:

of One ($1.00) Dollar we do hereby
grant an option to the Georgia Power
Company, Atlanta, Georgia, its

successors and assigns, to purchase
the distribution system now owned and
operated by the Town of Gordon.
“If this option is exercised by the
Power Company within the time limit
we do covenant and agree to convey
to the Georgia Power Company, its
successors and assigns by warranty
deed acceptable to the attorney of the
Power Company, free and clear of all
liens and encumbrances, all poles,
wires transformers, meters, and other
apparatus making up the complete
electrical distribution system on the
streets, alleys, and other passages of
the Town of Gordon, together with
street lighting circuits, fixtures street,
lighting transformers, and th p rea l
estate on which the transformer
station is now located, with rights of
ingress and egress, and,
To further grant to the Georgia
Power Company, its successors and
assigns, a standard form of indeter
minate franchise.
For and in consideration of the
above the Georgia Power Company, if
this option is exercised within sixty
(60) days from date, agrees to pay to
the Town of Gordon Twenty Five,
Fifty(s2s.oso.oo Dollars, in cash and

the operation of the system their
standard schedule of rates, as shown
by schedule attached hereto. '

Therefore be it ordained by the
Mayor and Aidermen, constituting the
Board of Council of the City of
Gordon, and it is hereby ordained by
authority of the same, that in accor
dance with the provisions and require
। ments of an Act of the General
Assembly of Georgia approved August
. 25th 1925, entitled “An Act to

disposition by municipal corporations
of the State of Georgia, of any or all
electric water, gas or municipally
owned public utility properties, and to
provide the terms, conditions
and safeguards respecting the
disposition of the same and for other
purposes,” it is and is hereby declar
ed to be the intention of the Mayor
and Aidermen or Board of Council, if
said option is accepted by said
Georgia Power Company, to make
said sale of said city electric system,
according to the terms and conditions
and at the price therein mentioned,
unless said sale shall be objected to or
protested as provided in said Act:
Be it Further ordained, that this
ordinance including said oprion or
agreement be pubished once a week
for three consecutive weeks in the
Bulletin, a newspaper published in
Wilkinson County.
Be it further ordained that notice is
hereby given to the qualified voters of
the City that afier ten days from the
publication of this notice of intention
to sell, the said system and all
apparatus and equipment, thereto be
longing will be sold to Georgia Power
Company at the price and upon the
terms and conditions hereinbefore set
out. unless within ten days after
the last publication hereof, petition
signed by not less than twenty per
cent of the qualified voters of the city
be filed, objecting to and protesting
against said sale.
Be it further erdained, that the
Clerk of Council be and is hereby
directed to certify this ordinance and
cause the same to be published as
notice to voters of said City.
Adopted by the Mayor and Aider
men, constituting the Board of
Council of the City of Gordon, this
the Ist, day of Aug. 1927.
