G. T. Lord’s Statement
Os His Position on
Highways in County
To the people of the county.
Since I have announced as a
candidate for the office of Commission
er of Roads and Revenues of the
county, certain ones have circulated
the report that if I am elected that I
will use my efforts to change the
highway from Milledgeville to Dublin
to go byway of Toomsboro- They
haye also circulated the report that I
will oppose the extension of the road
from Irwinton to and across the river
at Balls Ferry.
Those who are familar with such
deceitful tactics as some use in
politicial campagins in our county
need no explanation from me on this
matter, but for fear that some one
who are not familar with such politics,
I deem it necessary for me to make a
public statement to them of my
attitude on this important subject.
In the first place I wish to say that
such statements are absolutely false
and unwarranted. In the second
place if I was so inclined, which I am
not, I could not change the routes
that have already been surveyed by
the State Highway Department and
placed on the road map of the State.
I wish to assure the voters of the
County that il lam elected ny best
efforts will be to serve the County of
Wilkinson to the very best interest of
the County as a whole, statements
made by some of mv “good friends”
to the contrary notwithstanding.
My record as an advocate and
supporter of good roads in the county
is well known to the people, and if I
elected as one of your county
commissioners, my record as such, will
continnre to be an advocate of good
roads and the roads and highways al.
ready surveyed and adopted by the
county and the State Highway
Department will be completed as they
have been surveyed and placed on

whose talent is now unsuspected.”
The public is cordially invited to
attend the convention in Irwinton.

The statement that I would oppose
the extension of the road from Irwin
ton to and across the river at Balls
Ferry is too simple and unfounded by
any line of reason for any one to
, belive. I wish to say that I am in
, favor of extending this road and also
to complete the road, as surveyed
