Mr Bragg Announces
To the People of Wilkinson county:
During the month of July 1927 I
askd Hon. E.O.Smith if he would be
a candidate for reelection, and he as
sured me that he would not under
any circumstances run for reelection,
as he had held the office for nine
years and felt that he had held the of
fice long enough.
Believing that he would not again
aspire to this office I then announced
that I would be a candidate, and since
that time I have received sufficient en
couragement from the ten districts in
the county to warrant me in believing
that I shall be elected. lam the first
man who announced for the office of
Commissioner of Roads and Revenues,
and I feel that each man who lias an
nounced since that time is opposing mo
and not me opposing them.
I believe that the Board of County
Commissioners should be composed of
members from every section of the
county, and as it has been many years
since Irwinton has been represented
on the Board I feel that now is the
time to electan Irwinton man. It is
unfair to have two commissioners at
G rdon.
If the people of the county see fit to
honor me with this office I assure them
that the great responsibilities resting
upon me as a public official will be re
alized, and that before I shall approve
any contract or claim against the coun
ty, expending the public money, I
shall know that the people of the coun
ty will receive just va'ue.
Your vote and influence will be
greatly appreciated, and the confidence
reposed in me never violated.
Yours very truly,
T. 11. Bragg.

E. O. Smith Announces
For Re-election
To the People of Wilkinson
County:
Eight years ago Judge J. S. Davis,
then Ordinary of Wilkinson county,
appointed me to fill the unexpired
term of Mr. J. W. Brooks, Jr. who
had resigned. I served the unexpir
ed term and was re-elected for six
years. Some of my opponents are
criticising me about two Commission
ers living in Gordon- I just want to
say this: lam in no-sense responsi
ble for but one commissioner being
in Gordon. The people by their
vote placed two commissioners there.
Mr. T. H. Bragg has seen proper to
accuse me of having told him in July
of 1927 that 1 would not be a candi
date for re-election, and that it is un
fair to have two commissioners at
Gordon. The only reason I care to
answer him is to keep the record
straight. It is true that Mr. Bragg
asked me if I would be a candidate
for re election, and I told him at that
time I had not made up my mind
what I would do.
Aporeciating the long years of
confidence and trust the people of the
county have reposed in me, I ask you
again to endorse my record as your
public servant on the 29th of
February 1928, and thereby permit
me to continue to use my efforts in
building highways and improving
public roads, regardless of the location
of my place of residence.
Yours sincerely,
E. O. Smith.
