After A Highway
By a ratio of four out of five
•delegates to the annual session of the
Association of County Cothmissioners
of Georgia favor a bond issue for
solving Georgia's road problems and
all indications Wednesday night
.pointed to the launching of a fight
immediately for a fund of at least
$75,000,000.
Delegates were in Augusta from
nearly every county in Georgia, while
many members of the legislature,
county, and state officials are
represened,
All talk at the opening of the
meeting centered on bonds. Accord
ing to the expressions of speakers at
the opening session of the executive
committee as well as in open sessions

the repayment to counties of money
spent by counties on state and county
roads. Some delegates want a bond
issue ot $100,000,000 with $25,-
000,000 refunded to counties and the
other $75,000,000 to be used on new
road paving.

Fiddlers Convention
The Fiddlers Convention, arranged
by Miss Willie Davis, as a benefit
performance for the Wilkinson
County High School, held at the
courthouse in Irwinton Wednesday
night April 17, 1929, is something to
be remembered with pleasure for
many years by those who attended.
This entertainment drew a record
breaking crowd to the city, the attend
ance being far larger than anyone had
anticipated, And the audience gave
every indication of being perfectly
well pleased with the entire perfor
mance. Every group of contestants
received liberal applause, and in
appreciation of this gave back their
very best in good music.
A number of good, old time tunes
were played and the thumping of the
feet in time to the music made it
sound as if the dance of other dajs
was really on again.
While the judges were out making
their decision, all the groyps
musicians played together and the
volume of music shook the walls-
They played request numbers until
they were worn out and yet the
hearers kept calling for more, so
Judge J, S. Davis, who directed the
performance, suggested that this
convention hereafter meet annually
