Under and by virtue of a power con
tained in a deed with power of sale
executed by Arthur Burney to Farm
ers and Merchants Bank of Gordon,
Ga,, dated September 29, 1927, said
deed being recorded in Book of deeds
No 45 folio 300 of clerk of superior
court of said county, the undersigned
will sell before the courthouse door in
said county on the First Tuesday in
February, 1930, between the legal
hours of sale to the highest bidder for
cash the following described land to
wit:
All that tract or parcel of land ly
ing and being in Bethel district of
Wilkinson county, State of Georgia,
containing one hundred and seventy
five acres, more or less, and being the
same lands this day sold to said Ar
thur Burney by said Farmers and
Merchants Bank, and being bounded
on the north by lands of J. T. F.
Brooks, on the east by lands of
George Veal and George Cobb, on
the south by lands of J. W. Brooks
and Martha Ann Nelson and the
Cliff Veal lands.
Said hnd will be sold for the Pur
pose of paying a certain hote dated
September 29, 1927, and due Sept.
29, 1928, the principal sum of said
note being $1296 00.
Said note providing for interest at
the rate of 8 per cent per annum and
signed by the maker of said deed to
secure debt as described above. The
proceeds of said sale will be applied
first to the payment of said debt, the
costs of this proceeding and the re
mainder if any, will be paid over to
the makers of said deed or their rep
resentative.
The purchasers of said land will be
made a deed in fee simple to said
land this the 3 day of January 1930

said deed recorded in book of deeds

of said county, the undersigned will
sell before the court h*use door of said
county on Ist Tuesday in February
1930, between the legal hours, of sale
to the highest bidder for cash, the
following described land, towit:
All that tract or parcel of land
lying and being in the city of Gordon
Ga. and being lots Nos 3, 4. 5,6, 7,
8,9, 10, in Block C, as per plat of
clerk of the superior court of said
county, recorded in book 30 folio 24,
to which plat reference is hereby
made as part of description of lands
herein conveyed, said lots being
bounded as follows;
On ' tho north by alley, east by
alley, south by road leading to
Milledgeville, on west by M. M.
. Eady lands and street- On one of
, said lots being situated the dwelling
. house now occupied by said grantor,

November 1, 1928, for the principal
. sum of $1,838.30 and interest thereon
from date of said note at, the rate of
eight per cent per annum, signed by

if any, will be paid oyer to the
maker of said deed or to her represen
tative,

The regular monthly meeting of
the Robert Toombs Chapter U. D. C.
was held at the home of Miss Addie
gene Cason Wednesday afternoon,
Jan. 8. This was the first meeting
of 1930 and there was a full attend
ance of the membership.
The meeting was opened with pray
er by Mrs E M. Boone, President.
After the minutes of Jhe previous
meeting were read and approved,
gratifying reports were made by -the
chairmen of various committees. Reg
istrar reported demits hav'ng been
mailed to Mrs Armstrong and Mrs
Scott. Names presented at this meet- ,
ing for membership were. Mrs S- 8,.
Gilbert. Miss Nina Beck, and Mrs
Julia Kitchens, which were favorably
voted on. A demit was granted Mrs
Alice Bridwell, and registra asked to
send same,
• The secretary read notes of appre
ciation from Mrs Mills and Mrs Brack
for flowers sent by the chapter to the
funerals of their husbands.
It was moved and seconded that a
C. of C. be organized, and Mrs A. W x
Strozier was appointed to be Director
of this organization.
The chapter voted to give medal
for the best essay on Jefferson Davis,,
and the president appointed a com
mittee to make arrangements with
the teachers for this contest.
Befofe going into the program for
the afternoon the president made an
earnest appeal to the members stress
ing the chapter’s aim for the new
year.
