Mrs John David Dixon
Funeral services were held Friday
afternoon, Oct. 31, for Mrs John
David Dixon, who died Wednesday
night at, her home near Toomsboro af*
ter an illness of lour years,
She is survived by her husband
and two daughters, Misses Aurelia
and Hilda Dixon, and one son. Wil
liam Dixon, all of Toomsboro. She
also leaves her father and mother,
Mr and Mrs Ross Bates of Crandall;
two sisterss Mrs George Hall of Cran
d UI, and Mrs Leonard A. Dixon of
Cristobal. Canal Zone; three brothers,
Dennis and .Julian Bates of Oklaho
ma City, and John Bates of McAlest
er. Oklahoma.

Robert Hartley, Jr , entertained at
his home last Saturday evening with
a tacky party, sixteen of his young
friends, all dressed up enjoyed the
varied amusements of the occasion,
and looked their tackybest to win one
of the three prizes. Late in the ev
ening cake and hot chocolate were
served.
A beautiful event of the week was
the surprise birthday party for Mrs.
Joe Skelton given by Mr. Skelton at
the home of Mrs. M. E Player. The
guests assembled at 7:30 and were led
to the dining room where supper was
served. The tables were beautifully
decorated, carrying out the color
scheme of pink and green.
After supper the birthday cake was
cut by the guests, inclding Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Skelton, Mr and Mrs. L. P.
Player, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Petty,
Misses Iva and Lola Hatfield, Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Culpepper, Mr. and
Mrs. Otho Bell, Mr and Mrs. T. W,
Flayer, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Dixon,
