New Business
Gainesville, Ga., May - - (Special--
Declaring that Georgia’s future
development will depend on the treat
ment accorded businesses already
located in the state, P, S, Arkwright,
president of the Georgia Power
Company, in an address at Gaines
ville last week, warned that political
attacks on business are the chief
stumbling block in the wavy of the
state’s progress. Agricultuaral
sections as well as the citles will
benefit if outside capital can be
brought into the sfate, he said, and all
sections suffer unless Georgia backs
up its invitation to new industries by
giving fair treatment to those which
come here. The address was made at
the annual joint meeting of the
Gajnesville Rotary and Kiwanis
clubs. .
“For several years,” Mr, Arkwright
said, “‘business has looked forward
with apprehension to the approach of
a session of the state legislature.
This year we, not only the Georgia
Power Company, but all business
interests, look forward to the
approaching session with foreboding
and dread. We see on every side
side evidences of what appears to be
an organized effeort to make existing
businesses as uncomfortable as
possible and thereby make the state
sa uninviting as possible to new
businesses we want to bring into our
state.

Trouper’s Dream
1 close my eyes against the sun
That warms me into drowsiness,
And fancy acts my best-loved scene,
Os you and I upon the stage, :
With idle words that matter not—
And then the fairy touch of bliss
Upon my lips: and then—Cartain; -

Remember how when you were a
little boy doing come job around the
housesand knocked off a little bit of
skin the hurt entirely disable you,
and losing twice that amount of
natural covering on a fishing trip was
hardly noticed. Well, it happens
that way now. Saw such a case justa
few minutes ago. :
Have you made your guess about
how many will attend the Rural
Letters Carriers convention to
- morrow? :
Hold the thought and peoole will
finally come to your way of thinking
and doing. Charles Elliott sat alone
on Pennyrow all during the school
term, amusing himself with marbles,
puppy dogs and cats, as best he could,
and now he has so much company he
is crowded. :
For the remainder of the summer
the afternoons should be spent under
water.

keeps his mind from dwelling on the
fact that he is doing something useful.
