Irwinton People
In Auto Wreck
Mr and Mrs Lynwood Stokes
had a narrow escape Sunday af
ternoon when their auto collided 1
with another car driven by Mr
Griffin near the home of Mr E.
J. Dennard of Gordon. The
car of Mr Stokes was overturned
and badly damaged but none of
the parties in the wreck were
injured except few minor bruis
es. Other motorists found them
a few minutes after the accident-

Has Interesting Meeting
The John Ball chapter, D. A. R.,
met on June &th at the home of Mrs
J. F. Porter, in Danville, the regent.

tures, which was very much enjoyed.
Mrs J. H. Duggan gave a paper

salute to the flag was given by the
chapter.
Good reports were made by the
committees. Mrs Victor Davidson
was presented with a past regent oin,
as a token of gratitude and apprecia -
tion of her splendid work as regent of
the chapter. Mrs A. W. Daughtry
presented the pin, and expressed the
love and loyalty of the chapter. Mrs
Davidson responded in her usual
charming manner.
A delicious salad ice course was
served by the hostess, assisted bv
Miss Mary Maxwell and Mrs A. W.
Daughtry. The following visiters
were present; Miss Annie Daughtry,
Danville, Miss Helen Daughtry,
Macon, Miss Mary Maxwell, Dan
ville. Mrs F. H. Jobson, Danville,

Black Birds’ Jubilee
Pleases Large Audience
Mr Richard Camp’s play, the
, Black Birds’ Jubilee, at the Ir
winton school Wednesday even
ing, sponsored by Quinn-Lindsey
Post, American Legion, and di
rected by Mr Camp, delighted a
large audience. Plenty of good,
jokes, and msuic, singing and
dancing, pretty costumes made
up a varied and interesting pro
gram.
A special surprise feature two
tap dances by Mr Lane Stokes
was greatly enjoyed.
Mr Camp left Thursday to
begin rehearsals of the play in
another town.
