Study Control Results |
Shall the Bankhead Act be contin
ued through 1935? A vote will be
taken soon. County Agent Geo. T.
Oakley urges farmers to study effects
ot the measure fairly before votiog.
*‘We are near the end of the second:
vear of crop production control, and
the end of the first period of regula
tion through the assessment of tax on
excessive production. Bankhead Act
provides it is to be effective in 1935
if two-thirds of the cotton preducers
tavor it.
On Sept. 15 the price of cotton, in
cluding benefit and parity payments,
was 16.7¢c a pound as compared with
6.1 c a pound on March 19, 1933,
Corn is now about $1 07 per bushel,
including benefits. compared with 20.
6c March 15, 1933 Wheat now is
$1.24 a bushel, iocluding tenefits,
it was 34.5 bushel March 15, 1933.‘
Price of hogs has advanced from $2.
22 per hundred in March 1933 to
$8 50 on Sept. 15.
Don’t forget the Days of Five
Cent Cotton. Weigh car fully the
effects of a suspension of control
measures.
What will you do about cotton
acreage?
And the use of fertilizers?
How much wil} your neighbors, and
other states plant?
Prices quoted above show what has
happened under ccn'rol regulations
in a year and a half, and I urge that
they be given careful consideration
in reaching a decision on the way we
vote when the Bankhead Actis sub
mitted.” :

What We Mean By “Service™
To use the word service has a much deeper meaning than
the mere performance of our professional duties. It means put
ting ourselves in the position of patrons and serving as we would
wish to be served were positions reversed. It means doing all in
our power to make the last tribute a beautiful memorial to the
departed. That is what we mean when we speak of ‘‘service’’.
