Carswell Formally
Nominated
George H. Carswell was formally
nominated on October. 12, as sena
tor from the 21st district, by the
Democratic executive committee.
The meeting was presided over by
W. A. Jones, chairman. Delegates

Indian Trail Marker
The John Ball chapter of the D.
A. R. unveiled an Indian trail mark
er at Allentown Friday afternoon,
Oct. 12, 1934 This marker is placed
on the paved highway at the intersec
tion of the highway with the Allen
town Cary road.
Mrs A. W. Daughtry, regent of
the chapter, presided, at the unveil
ing exercises. Hon. Victor Davidson
made the address of the afternoon, his
subject being: Wilkinson county’s
Indian history.
Mrs Mark Smith of Thomaston,
state chairman for marking old trails,
spoke. Mrs F. H. Jobson led the
singing; the children who unveiled
the marker wore Indian costumes, one (
of them, Mary Frances Allen, is a ।
great-great-great granddaughter of (

Word had just been received of her brother’s death several
hundred miles away Before leaving to bring him home, she
wanted to arrange with us for the service here.
Realizing the expense which the trip would entail, we explained
it would be unnecessary for her to go to the other city. Her wish
es and all instructions could be telephoned to our representative <
there, who would take immediate charge and carry out her wishes ’
in every respect, until it was time for us to assume personal
charge here

and 7th grade rooms.
The association voted to sponsor a
1 picture show to be held at the court
house on Monday nights; the desk
committee, Mrs N, 11. Bacon, Mrs
Ralph Culpepper, Mrs J. Hall, to
be in charge of these shows. Also
voted for a restaurant for April court.
The attendance prize was won by
6th and 7th grades.
The October program committee
announced plans for the Hallowe’en
Carnival to be held at T. W. Player's
store October 26.
Plans for Daddies’ Night in No •
vember were discussed.
The Carnival
The P. T. A Carnival, Friday
night, Oct. 26,. will be held in
the Player building, Irwinton.
A lively program of varied
amusements has been arranged.
Hot lunches, candies, drinks.
A happy evening awaits you
at the Carnival.
