Masonic Convention
The Sixth Annual Convention
of the Wilkinson County Mason
ic Convention met with Cool
Spring Lodge No. 185 on the
Fourth Thursday in August 1935
At a called communication ot
this Lodge held in its hall on the
above date, the Lodge was open
ed in due form on the Master's
Degree, the following officers
and members being present:

warden; J B Butts, acting junior
warden; HA Fountain, secretary
Edd Hill, senior deacon; W E
Batchelor, junior deacon; J 0
Davidson, acting senior steward;
0 W Bell junior steward.
The Convention was opened in
due and ancient form. All busi
ness of a routine nature was
transacted.
The address of welcome was
given by E L Hill; response by
J E Butler. There were talks by
most of the Brethren, which
were greatly enjoyed.
Move was made to invite Lib
erty Hill Lodge No. 308 to unite
with the Wilkinson and Twiggs
County Convention, which was
combined in 1934.
At the Masonic convention in
Danville last Thursday, the fol
lowing were elected: Worshipful
master, AW Daughtry; deputy
master, J E Butler, senior war
den, E L Hill; junior warden,
W 0 Birdsong: secretary, H A
Fountain, W E Batchelor, senior
deacon, 0 W Bell, junior deacon,
L T Manderson, senior steward,
M W Fowler, junior steward.
At 1 pm the convention recess
ed to enjoy a bountiful dinner in
the open air which the loving
hands and kind hearts of the la
dies had prepared. This was an
old fashioned fried chicken din
ner, which was greatly enjoyed
by all.
The Lodge was called from re
freshments to labor. The Lodge
gave a rising vote of thanks for
the splendid dinner which the
ladits had prepared and also the
brethren of Cool Springs Lodge
185. Irwinton gave an invitation
for the next convention to be
held in Irwinton on the Fourth
Thursday in August, 1936, The
invitation was accepted with
pleasure. Mr Bryan gave a
splendid talk on the history of
the organization of Cool Springs
Lodge from 1850 up until the
present time. The convention

Labor Available
For Local Farmers
The National Reemployment
Service is in position through the
cooperation of the Relief Ad
ministration to furnish farmers
of Wilkinson county all the ex
tia labor they will .need in gath
ering their crops.
When a relief client is assign
ed to a private job through the
Reemployment organization and
refuses to take the job, the re
lief administration immediately
disqualifies him on the rolls.
Any farmer in this county
who will apply to the Reemploy
ment office and furnish Transpor
tation back and forth from the
county courthouse to the planta
tion will be furnished the help
he needs, especially for cotton
picking.
The standard wage is 50c to
75c per hundred. Average pick,
er can bag 200 lbs per day and
make more than on relief which
pays unskilled labor sl9 month.
Toomsboro School
W. C, Siler, Supt. of the Tooms
boro School, announces that school
will open Monday morning, Sept. 2d.
at 9a m. The patrons and friends
of the school are cordially invited.

several days getting things in readi
ness and Mr John D. Watson arrives
this week to assist in the preparation

Confederate Reunion
The Confederate Veterans will
meet in Amarillo, Texas, Sept- 3 to 6
1935, for their 45th annual reunion.

Wins in Rifle Shoot
Mr Waldo Lindsev was winner in
a rifle shooting contest at the Citi
zens Military Training Camp, Fort
Moultrie, near Charleston, S C and
iS enjoying the prize, a trip to the
camp at Perry. Ohio.
Gordon School
Gordon High School will open on
Monday, Sept. 2, with J. C. Turner
as Supt., assisted by Leon J Hendrix.
