Hallowe’en Carnival
flans are being completed for the
Halloween Carnival to be held in
Toomsboro, Friday night. October 25.
at 7:30 o’clock. The public is cor
dially invited to attend.
Ebenezer Association
Danville —Ebenezer Baptist asso
ciation met with Mt. Zion Church, 4
miles from Danville, on Wednesday
and Thursday, October 23rd and 24th
in its one hundred and twenty third
annual session, with Rev. J. S- Hays
acting as Moderator.
Rev. Tom Farmer gave the intro
ductory sermon on Wednesday morn
ing, and on Thursday morning, Dr.
J. C. Solomon gave the missionary
sermon.
The Rev. Mr Bennett, pastor of
Mt. Zion Church, led the opening de
votional. Other devotionals were led
by Reys. G. L Griffin, H. G, Hobbs,
and J. L Pittman.
Committee chairmen reporting were
W. T. Chappell, on Christian littra
ture; Rev- James L. Pittman on Tem
perance; and Rev. J. S. Hays tn
Education.
Rev. A. N. Morris spoke on Co
operative work; T. S. Tharpe gave
the Sunday school report; Rev. J. C.
Midyett spoke on the.B Y.P TJ. and
M. A. Faulk gave the Digest of Let
ters.
R. L Dayis spoke on the Orphans'
Home on Thursday morning; W, F.
Linder led the memorial service for
Our Dead, and J. H. Balcom spoke
on the Eveiy Member Canvas.
At the closing session, W. F. Lin
der gave the tieasurer’s report, E L.
Hi 1 spoke on Finance, and Rev. H.
G. Hobbs reported on Social Service.
R L. Kitchens was chairman of
nominations, and A. J. Phillips serv
ed as chairman of time and place
committee. The report of the Exec
utive committee was given by the
Rev George L. Griffin.
Mrs James H. Whitehurst, super
intendent of Ebenezer Woman’s Mis
sionary union, spoke on the Woman s
Work on Wednesday afternoon, and
on Thursday morning, Mrs Roy J.
Dennard spoke on Missions.
4 County Stunt Night
Stunt night, sponsored by the Ath
letic association, was held on Friday
night in the school auditorium, first
prize being awarded to the Danville
Junior Girl’s Auxiliary. Second
prize was awarded to Miss Ruth Hill
and the Cotton Pickers of Cochran.
Third prize was won by the Mont
rose High School
Four counties participated in the
stunt night: Bleckley, Laurens,Twiggs rT7 . „ . •

Church Established
On October 20th a Church was es
tablished in the Moore section of
Twiggs county to be named Al Shi
rath, meaning Servants of God.
Mr and Mrs John Moore deeded to
the Church one acre of land and the
building formerly known as the
Moore school house.
The church was established through
the efforts of the acting paster, Rev.
J. C. Midyett of Macon, assisted by
the Rev A. N- Morris of Jefferson
ville. The members are as follows:
Mr and Mrs John P. Moore, Miss
Gladys Moore, Mrs W. H, Reeves,
Mr and Mrs Julien Phillips, Mrs Ruby
Carden, Mr and Mrs W. L. Christian
Mr Foster Alley and Mr Buss Long.
The church was the outgrowth ot
the Sunday school organized on Jan.
20th by Miss Hennilu Hughes and
Miss Floried Smith.
The church was received into the
Ebenezer association on Oct. 23rd.
Toomsboro Locals
Mr and Mrs J. H. Holliman and
family spent Sunday at Rebecca, as
guests of Mrs Holliman’s parents, Mr
and Mrs Guy Maddcx.
Those visiting G.S.C W. Sunday
afternoon were Mr and Mrs F. B.
Chambers, Miss Kathleen Chambers,
Mrs H. D. Hughes, Mr and Mrs H.
E. Stephens, and Miss Mary Ste
phens.
Mrs Joe Lingo of Milledgeville is
visiting her sister, Mrs W. H Free
man.
Miss Lillie Hall has returned from
a visit to her sister. Mrs L. M. Ware
in Alabama.
Mr and Mrs Charlie Gladden were
spend the day guests of Mr and Mrs
W. H. Freeman Sunday.
Mr Frank Chambers and Mr Tom
Freeman motored over to Milledge
ville Sunday afternoon.
Mr J. C. Saville, Jr., was a visitor
to Toomsboro Sunday.
Miss Maude Crisswell has accepted
a position in Milledgeville.
Mrs Emma Duggan is visiting her
sister. Mrs W, A. Hall.
Mr and Mrs R. F. Deese of Dublin
visited relatives here Sunday.
