T. E. Hightower
Dies in Irwinton
T. E. Hightower, <>2, attorney and
former mayor of Dublin, shot himself
to death in his room at the Stevens
Hotel in Irwinton about noon Tues
day morning He had told friends
the evening before that he expected
to die soon.
He shot himself twice, in the head
and through the heart.
Mr Hightower had made his home
in Irwinton during the past two
months.
Church School Day
Church School Day will be observed
by all Sunday Schools on Irwinton
charge on Sunday morning March
29th.
A special program will be rendered
by the respeetive Sunday Schools at
the morning hour in each church, at
which time a special collection will be
taken for Churcn School Day.
All Sunday School workers and
others are expected to assemble at
Irwinton in the afternoon at 3 : 30 tor
a general discussion of all Sunday
School matters. Speakers for the
afternoon will Miss Frances Clements
of Lizella, Ga., and Rev. G. Reid
Smith of Macon.
Everybody is invited to attend
both services.

George Gordon Crawford
Dies in Alabama
George Gordon Crawford, brother
of Mrs E D. Napier of Wilkinson
county, died Friday, March 20, in
Birmingham, Alabama, after a long
illness. He was 67 yews old and
had for many years been a leader in
the development of southern ores, and
was for 23 years president of the
Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad
company. His salary was among
the largest in the country—Three
hundred thousand dollars a year. Mr
Crawford studied mechanical engineer
ing at Georgia Tech.

It has been my privilege for sev
■ eral terms to serve as Ordinary of
Wilkinson County.
During this period I have been to
the homes of practically all its citi
zens and become acquainted and at
tached to the occupants of these
homes, both old and young.
Ido not entertain enmity towards
those who cast their ballots against
me but stand ready for service when
onportunity presents itself. >
My feelings toward those who sup
ported me are of profound gratitude.

Test week —Everyone busy.
Chapel exercises Monday were
conducted by Supt. W. C- Siler.
Miss Grace and the 6th Grade will
conduct chapel Friday.
The entertainment given in the
school auditorium Friday night was
well attended.
Plans are under way for the pro*
duction of the Senior I’lay.
We are sorry to report Edna Faf
ford, senior, ill; we wish for her a
speedy recovery.

by Mrs Gertrude Carswell, chaplain.

mittee chairmen showing the work
carrying on satisfactorily. Almost
