The loafer is a curious fellow. He
has plenty of time for his curiousness
to grow out on him like toadstools on
a dead stump. One or the oddest
things about him is his treatment of
benches. Now, if there is one piece
of street furniture he does love it is a
storefront bench, yet he will sit him
down on one of these comfortable,
pantspolished seats and steadily whit
tle it out from under himself until he
is forced to get up —and he do mor
tally dislike standing. Just look at
the benches at the front of Johnson's
old store building.
