Mrs B. S. Fitzpatrick
Mrs B. S. Fitzpatrick, wife of
Twiggs County School Superin- 1
tendent, died in a Macon hospital
Sunday afternoon after an illness
of a few days.
Mrs Fitzpatrick was formerly .
Miss Fleta Butler, of Irwinton,
her parents, Mr and Mrs George
Butler, were prominent early
settlers of this county. Since (
her marriage to Prof. Fitzpartick
she had resided at Fitzpatrick
for fifty five years. She was a
member of Rosebud Methodist
church.
She is survived by her hus- 1
band, and four daughters, Mrs
Bessie Jones, Mrs A. C. Ross,
Miss Fleta Fitzpatrick. MrsJ.W. !
Harwell; sons, George, and B. S V
Fitzpatrick, Jr.; brothers, J. E.
Butler, R. J. Butler, Will and '

Funeral services were held at
Rosebud Methodist church Mon
day afternoon bv J E. Buchan

interment was in the Fitzpat
rick cemetery.

31, at Walnut Creek church, near

Marine Corps Enlistments 1
The U. S. Marine Corps Dis
trict Recruiting Office at Macon, 1
Ga., serving this area, accepts a
limited number of outstanding 1
applicants for general service, '
monthly, between 18 and 25 1
years of age and not less than 5
feet 6 inches in height.
After completion of basic
training the recruits are assign
ed to Infantry, Machine Gur,
Artillery, Motor Transport, Sig
nal, or Aviation units, or are
sent to the Sea School at Norfolk
Va., for training for service
afloat with the Marine detach
ments on battleships, airplane
carriers, an cruisers. No other
branch of the military service of
fers this opportunity for later
specialization.

The annual concert of the Danville
school music class was given Wednes
day evening under direction of Mrs
F. H. Jobson.
The following pupils were present

Hulme. Virginia Smith, Joyce Porter,
Sarah Toney, Miriam Lamb, Hazel
Lamb, Martha Parker, Hattie and
Nina HoWell, Evelyn Heath, Bernice
Baker, Angelyn and Ouida Johnson.

Several ensemble numbers were
given using two pianos with four, six
eight and twelve hands.
The promotion exercises of the Ist
grade were held Wednesday after
noon under supervision of Miss Flo
tied Smith. The pupils wore white
cips and gowns and ' were seated on
the stage which was decorated in
their class colors, pink and blue.
Virginia Ham extended the wel
come: Francis Hill gave the class
prophecy; Lazell Lucas gave a poem
called Young Trees; James Lamb
had charge of the presentation of
gifts; Herschel Lee presented the
class keys to the first grade of next
year; Edith Ellington gave the Vale
dictory; Marvin Phillips gave a mes
sage and Carolyn Baker sang a s lo-

The Tenth Grade, with a few
guests, enjoyed a picnic at Sandy
Saturday night.
Mrs F- C. Rowe entertained the
Eleventh grade with a party held at
her hime Tuesday evening-

The new rooms of the school build
ing are nearly completed now that
the concrete floors have been poured
and all that is needed is the “finish
ing touches”.
Members of Wilkinson County ,
High school graduating class were de
lightfully entertained Tuesday even
ing at the home of Mr and Mrs F. C.
Rowe, with proming and dancing. Aft
er several hours of this pleasant Das
time. delightful refreshments were
served and enjoyed by all.
