Sorority To Hold White
Elephant Sale At Minit
Inn On Wed. Apr. 18
A white elephant sale will be
held by the Beta Eta Chapter of
the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority
at their next meeting at the Minit
Inn on April 19. A Pledge cere
mony will also be held to initiate
Mrs. Lee Hooper. Mrs. Bobby Mc-
Kinney, Mrs. Emily Carlan and
Mrs. Lawson Rollins into the sor
ority at this meeting,
April 24th had been tentatively
set for a Jewel Pin ceremony.
Members of the College Park
chapter will be guests.
On April sth the Beta Etas met
at the home of Mrs. John Simmons
at 13G Spring Valley Drive. An in
teresting program on “Speech”,
another in the series on “Self Ap
preciation” was arranged by Mrs.
Ken Courtney, program chairman.
A tape recording of each mem
ber’s voice was given helpful cri
ticism. The recorder captured
conversation during the refresh
ment period unknown to the mem
bers and resolutions for improve
ment were heard during the play
'back.
In addition to Mrs. Simomns and
Mrs. Courtney, Mrs. Carl Brown,
Mrs. Bob Gay, Mrs. Carroll Smith,
Mr. Wendell Norvelle, and Mrs.
Lee Hooper, were present.

surer; and Patricia Van Houten,
historian.
The girls are continuing their
work on tenderfoot requirements
to become Girl Scouts. Mrs. J.
D. Jergeson, leader, read “His
tory of Girl Scouting.”
Members of this troop are also
learning two songs: “Swinging Al
ong” and a German folk son, “The
Cu-Cu Song.”

two day sewing course at the
Singer Center in East Point, on
April 4 and 5.

structed sewing chairman from
nine of the Home Demonstration
Clubs in Clayton County, in “Get
ting The Most Out Os Your Sew
ing Machine.”
In addition to taking the inform
ation back to the individual clubs
these ladies will also instruct 4-H
girls in a course on “Know Your
Machine.”
Mrs. Reynolds will make a re
port on the course at the next
meeting of the Forest Park Home
Demonstration Club on April 19.

Mrs. Calude Wilson of Holland
Park was thrilled to get a phone
call from her husband in Form
osa. Captain Wilson was trans
fferred there in December and
Mrs. Wilson and the children will
join him soon. They plan to sail
from San Francisco on May Bth.
Sgt. and Mrs. Davis Evans of
120 North Avenue had as their
guests for a few days Mr. and
Mrs. W. C. Evans of Dilsbury,
Pennsylvania, returning from a
winter in Miami, Florida. Mr.
Evans is Sgt. Evans’ brother.

Brownie Lone Troop 13 met Wed
nesday, April 4, at the First Bap
tist Church. The girls completed
their course in First Aid.
• At the next meeting, members
will begin a study in nature.
Each girl in this troop is asked
to bring a leaf to the meeting
on April 11, which will be held
at the home of Mrs. Sara Wal
drop, 157 West Drive. Mrs. Wal
drop is the Leader for Brownie
Troop 13.
Cook Out Planned By

Girl Scout Troop 1 met Wednes
day, April 4, at the Forest Park
High School. The meeting was
spent in preparation of a “cook
out,” as the girls continued their
work for second class badges.

is an important meeting. Prepara

view will be made. All members
desiring to participate in the re

made to this meeting to be eligi
ble to enter.

Amid all the anxiety of moving
Mrs. Bagwell also suffered the
loss of her mother, Mrs. Alice Mc-
Junkin of Whitestone, Georgia,
who died at the Roper Hospital in
Jasper, Georgia on March 30.
Friends express their sympathy
and hope the Bagwells will soon
be settled in their new home.
