ny rules, the coaches enjoyed their defeat by a score of

61-49, though the War Eag
les fought doggedly.
The Panthers were unus
ually strong on the boards
as they dominated the re
bounding all night. In the
first half. Forest Park put
in 31 points while holding
the War Eagles to 17.
In the second half Wood
ward went into a press that
temporarily stumped the
Panthers. As soon as they
adjusted, however, they
came back in their regular
fashion.
Mike Orr, having an av
erage night, scored 20
points. Ricky Cole was the
outstanding player for For
est Park as he pulled down
many rebounds and put
bajck quite a few for 18
points. Eddy Creek was
third with 8 points, Jerry
Stubbs fourth with 7. and
George Christian fifth with

The War Eagles never
gave up, but when the final
buzzer rang, the Panthers
had bettered their record to
7-1 with the victory.

Forest Park, Ga., is going
through recruit training at
this Marine Corps Recruit
Depot.
’ His first stop when he ar
rived here was the Depot’s
receiving barracks where all
new recruits are processed.
Here he received his first
issue of Marine uniforms,
the equipment he will use in
training, and his first mili
tary haircut.
After being placed in a
training platoon with other
new recruits, he left the re
ceiving barracks and began
his formal Marine training
under the close guidance of
his Drill Instructors, or
“D.l.’s”. Until he graduates,
eight weeks after he entered
“boot camp”, these seasoned
Non-Commissioned Marines
will guide and supervise his
progress in physical condi
tioning and development,
rifle marksmanship, and
other skills which he must
master to be a Marine.

Naval Air Technical Train
ing Center in Memphis,
Tenn.
He is continuing his train
ing at the seven-week Basic
Helicopter School, also at
the training center.
Upon completion of his
training, he will be assigned
as a helicopter mechanic
with one of the Marine
Corps aviation units.
Lt. Harris
SHERMAN, Tex. — First
Lieutenant John O. Harris,
son of O. A. Harris, 107 Sar
gent Street, Forest Park, Ga„
has received four awards of
the Air Medal at Perrin AFB.
Tex., for air action in Viet
nam.
Lieutenant Harris was
decorated for his outstand
ing airmanship and courage
as an F-4C Phantom pilot
on successful and important
missions under hazardous
conditions. During his tour
of duty in Vietnam, he flew
100 missions over North
Vietnam and 18 over South
Vietnam. He now holds 10
Air Medals.
The lieutenant, following
completion of F-102 aircraft
training at Perrin, will be
assigned to Oxnard AFB.

A graduate of Marist Col
lege, Atlanta, he received his
A.B. degree in English in
1964 from the University of
Georgia. He was commis
sioned there upon comple
tion of the Air Force Re
serve Officers Training Corps
program.
His wife, Carolyn, is the
