Roddy Bowlden inter
cepted a pass for the Gold
team and looked like he will
be able to handle the punt
ing game for the Panthers.
Dennis Sullivan was a con
stant threat all night long.
His touchdown run of 62
yards was a thing of beauty.
He broke a half a dozen '
tackles on his trip to the
goal line.
These two teams, repre- ;
senting Forest Park looked !
more like football players
than the teams in the past.
They were big and strong ]
looking boys. If the carry
over, hitting hard and spirit,
is as great this fall as was ,
shown Friday night then
Forest Park will be well rep
resented this year in every ;
game
Coach Madison was j
pleased with the perform
ance of both teams. He said,
"I believe if we have the
leadership from our seniors
this fall we will have a fine
football team.” I was pleased
with the attitude and spirit
the boys had this spring If
they can gain self-confi
dence. "that they are the
best and can win,” then we
will have a great team."

NATIONALS (15-16)
On Monday night, the win
less Phillies met the winless
Braves. A very close and
hard-fought ball game re
sulted as both teams fought
for their first win.
Roy Denson's Braves took
a 2-0 lead in the third inning
when Chambers and Brown
scored on a past ball and an
error. The Phillies, managed
by Jack Wells, tied the game
at 2-2 in their half of the
fifth when Wann doubled in
two runs. The Braves came
back in their half of the
fifth to go ahead 3-2 when
Brown walked and stole sec
ond and then scored his sec
ond run of the night on a
throwing error. In the last
inning, the Phillies exploded
for three runs when hits
were registered by Wann.
Stubbs and Kidd. The final
score was 5-3 as the Phillies
got their first win. Chambers
suffered the loss as he struck
out eleven men and gave up
eight hits. Garner was the
winner on one hit off him
and struck out thirteen
Wann was the leading hitter
with three for four including
a double.
On Wednesday night, Les
ter Boswell and his unde
feated Dodgers were host to
the Phillies at Baker Field
Everyone was expecting a
close game and it was ex
actly that. Good fielding and
pitching kept the game
scoreless for the first four
innings. In the Dodgers’ half
of the fifth inning, Kilby
drew a walk after one out.
He stole second base and
then went to third on a wild
pitch. A past ball allowed
him to reach home for the
only score of the night. The
Dodgers remained unde
feated with a final score in
the game of 1-0. Stubbs was
the losing pitcher with ten
strike-outs and allowing
three hits. Bell was the win
ner on one hit and striking
out six.
