A Mardi Gras dance will be
held on Saturday, Feb. 8 al the
NCO Club at the Atlanta De
pot in Conley.
This annual event is spon
sored by the joint parish coun
cil of St. Philip Benizi Catholic
Church in Jonesboro.
All interested persons are in
vited to attend with a prize
being awarded to the most in
teresting costumes. Mr. and
Mrs. Hans Broder of Stock
bridge were the winners in
1968.
The Parish Council of
Youth will be the recipients of
the proceeds of this dance. Ad

Meets
The Joy Club of Jonesboro
met at the Civic Room in the
Bank of Jonesboro, Tuesday,
January 28. The meeting was
called to order by the Presi
dent, Mrs. Mildred Shelor. Ihe
Rev. W. Osborne Herlong, Jr.,
Pastor of the Jonesboro Luth
eran Church, gave the Devo
tional.
Mrs. Shelor announced she
sent notes of thanks to the
Jonesboro Woman’s Club and
the Jonesboro Junior Woman’s
Club, for their kindness to the
Joy Club during the months of
November and December.
Mrs. Doris Stewart intro
duced Mrs. Betty Hodges of
Ben Hill, who showed slides of
her trip to the Holy Land. Miss
Grace Porter invited members
of the Club to see brochures of
the trip to Miami, and Key
West, Florida, and Nassau, and
to see her after the meeting if
they wished to go on the trip.
Refreshments were served
by Mrs. Lilly Wright and Mrs.
Mildred Shelor.

Chairman, is not sitting on laurels for past successes
here on bloodnrobiles. He’s looking for 150 Clayton Coun
ty residents who will give blood on the first visit in 1969
on Friday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Forest
Park Recreational Center. These Clayton County blood
donors all have helped in the past and are looking for
more like themselves to give the gift of life. Left to right,

Passes in

of the Lee & Cates Glass Co.
died January 28 in a local hos
pital in Jacksonville where he
had lived for 42 years. Born in
Clayton County. Mr. Lee's fa
ther, W. J. Lee was a Surveyor
here for a number of years, he
also taught music. His mother
was Mollie Ferrell also of Clay
ton County.
Mr. Lee is survived by his
wife, Myra Lee, three daugh
ters and one son. A sister. Mrs.
W. L. Williamson and three
brothers, J. M. Lee, Colie Lee
and Fnnis Lee, all of Clayton
County.
Funeral services were held
Jan. 30 at the Mayfair Baptist
Church, Jacksonville.
