Newspaper Page TextSteve Pierce Winner Scott Parker of Roswell and Steve Pierce of Forest Park were first place winners in the Metro Atlanta “Dribble and Shoot" Contest held at half time ot the Hawks game with Philadelphia on March 6. The contest, sponsored by The Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the Atlanta Hawks and Metropolitan Atlanta Rec reation Centers, featured competition among boys in tour different age groups from 9-16 years ot age. Each boy was timed on speed of forward dribbling through an obstacle course and earned points based on his time, rhe second part of the contest involved shooting from outside the foul lane dur ing a specified period of time; each youngster received points for every shot made, The total points accumulated determined the winner. Scott, age 9, scored 116 points to win Class 1 (age 9) while 12-year old Steve took first place in Class Hl (age 12-13) with 130 points. Other Fulton County area (includes City of Atlanta) finalists were Alex Lay. age 11, and John Glasco, age 15, both of Hape ville, who finished third in their respective classes. Weight Lifting Meet Hie Forest Park Recreation Department will host the "Cotton States Open and Novice Olympic Weight-Lifting Championships and Open Physique Contest" on April 19th at the Recreation Center. Body builders from all over the Southern States of Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Geor gia and Mississippi will compete.
